It depends on wht kind of alteration. If it's just hemming it, I do it. Because I can sew, I do some alterations myself. But alterations on suede, leather, cashmere and some expensive knits,
I don't do it. I have it done professionally. But if the cost is more than the clothes itself, I just give them to my sister in the Philippines where alterations only range from $2 to $15.
One time, I had this leather pants that I got on sale for $40 and the alteration cost $60. I said "Forget it". So I gave them to my sister
i wouldn't be able to wear jeans unless i hemmed them myself. i'm pretty handy with a sewing machine, so i do everything myself. i have very short legs and they don't create inseams that
short, so i always have to take a couple inches off the bottom. i hate it, but i can't change my height.
With my mum's help she's a phenom seamstress, unfortunately the gift was not genetic. No amount of passion tends to make up for my lack of talent. I can use a sewing machine, replace buttons,
re-hem pants, skirts
Almost never. Although I'm petite, I only buy clothes which fit well enough that alterations aren't necessary. Shortening the sleeves and hems of garments meant for tall people isn't enough.
For the correct fit in the bust, waist, and hips, the whole garment needs to be adjusted. Also, I don't want to support companies that don't make my size. Because of this, my wardrobe was
very small until I moved to Japan, where pretty much everything is made to fit women of exactly my height. Not only do Japanese clothes fit, they look amazing because they were specifically
designed for petite bodies, rather than being scaled-down versions of designs for tall women. If I return to the US, I'll keep buying Japanese clothes by mail order.
I have to alter all of my jeans because I'm so short. Which is scary because when your buying $250 dollar jeans you don't want anyone to mess with them.
I have to have my pants altered because my waist is a size smaller than my butt and thighs; in fact, I have about five pairs of pants right now that need altering, but I'm wearing some of
them anyway, and they are definitely too big in the waist. I should probably take care of that!
I have to get my jeans altered because I'm on the petite side. For jean alteration, the best is The Denim Doctors on 3rd St. It's a little pricey but after they're done, your jeans look like
they've never been altered. BTW, ask for original hem when you get your jeans done especially if your jeans are on the expensive side.
My mom was a seamstress for many years and I use her when I can. I don't have too much to alter when I buy new, but there are several pieces that are older that I know I can use if they were
just tuck-in/altered slightly.
I'm 5 even so pants are ALWAYS too long. My mom used to hem them up for me all the time but she just moved. Dammit, another reason for me to miss my mom.
I'm spoiled......my mom is a wonderful seamstress. She still goes through magazines and new fabrics picking out things she will make for me.....and I'll be 38 this month!
i'm really short but not super skinny so it is so hard to find clothing that fits. all my pants/jeans are hemmed but i don't have a problem with tops or shirts as i am not all that petite (i
am curvy, i guess?!)
I never alter my jeans for cuz I never want to pay for it which is kind of ridiculous because my jeans are all pretty expensive, but I get tops and jackets tailored all the time if they don't
fit well.

Jenna Dewan walked down the street in Beverly Hills looking extremely chic and poised. Her structured white blazer framed her body perfectly, and paired well over her draped fringe Haute Hippie halter which she wore with denim leggings and over-the-knee brown boots.
From flowy red carpet gowns and body-skimming minis to casual leggings and cute shorts, this fashionable mom-to-be won't let a growing belly crimp her chic day-to-day style
i should though.... i'm small and petite
1i'm short and i always have to fix my jeans
2I will tell you that my tailor said that he is able to take his family to Italy once a year thanks to me!!!
3for jeans I ask a taylor to do it but for clothes I do not alter. I just buy new ones! hehehe
4I alter mostly dresses and skirts, or I like to customize a lot, especially if it's not so old but a little dated. I do it ALL myself;)
5I'm petite and I need to rise the hem of all my skirts and all the jeans and trousers. Nightmare, I tell you.
6My mom is a tailor. so it is easy to alter or even customise my clothes!!
7Everything that goes on my body needs to be tailored in some way, shape or farom. I don't mind though because then it fits and feels right.
8i usually have to alter dresses to make sure they fit just right..

10never :'( I don't seem to buy or wear-properly clothes that don't fit or suit me...or I'm just lazy. I never render my clothes..I should I suppose.

16never- i buy things that fit.
17i have such a hard time finding clothes i like, i basically alter everything myself. usually it's just to shorten it or fit it more.
a lot of my old t-shirts from hs were much bigger than they needed to be so i've basically resized all of them.

19I definitely alter. My body just isn't the same fit as many of the models the clothing companies use.
20When needed; I'm bringing a pair of jeans in soon since there too baggy now.
21I'm so short, I ALWAYS need to alter the length of my pants. Always. I hardly find myself altering anything else, though.
22I'm doing it more and more.
23THank heavens for the sewing lessons I took growing up, I do all my own alterations and a lot of my friends.

25Never.
26I buy clothes that fit me, so there wouldnt be a need for that, i do sometimes but very rarely.
27i'm also short, so i always have to get pants hemmed. either the shorts are never short enough or sometimes too short.
28Sometimes, I get my pants hemmed because of my short legs. Also, when I get a nice dress, I usually have to take in the shoulders.
29i occasionally get pants/jeans hemmed to work for different heel heights, but that's about it

32I'm petite, so all pants must be altered. I am taking some sewing classes right now- soon I won't have to pay my tailor anymore!
