As of late, celebs are really liking Ingwa; Melero's sexy dresses. This Ingwa; Melero Nova Spaghetti Dress, $293, adds a new twist to tired jersey frocks. It seems stars aren't the only ones taking note of this German designing duo. Retailers are also on the lookout...and creating cheaper versions!

Guess' Wiley Dress, $89, is nearly identical to Ingwa; Melero's version. It has the V neckline, the wooden ring in the center, the leather belt and jersey material. Only it's less than half the price and a tad shorter. Not a bad deal!

The cheaper version is as gorgeous as the splurge
1sooo cute!
2I like the more expensive one because it is longer!
3It's so unique looking. What an interesting twist on the lbd!
4I saw the Ingwa dress at Planet Blue last year. This was available as a top and as a dress. Are they selling it again this year? Weird.
5So cute! I love the ring in the middle...very unique!
6as much as i love a bargain, i think the splurge looks better. i'd rather get that one than the other from Guess.
7the are very similar, this is a very cute dress
8See, this is where that law protecting designers is gonna prove it's worth. This is a big, multinational chain just flat-out copying the work of a small, probably independant, possibly struggling to balance the books fashion label... to the extent where they could've killed this dress for the designers who actually thought it up thereby costing them sales and revenue. They could put them out of business and they wouldn't even care because there's always someone else new and talented on the block that they can copy from instead. I've said before that there's nothing wrong with being inspired by a shape or a cut or a detail, that's how the fashion merry-go-round works, but this is just wrong.
9very nice! I would do cheaper!
10I think I would have to see both up close to see the fabrics...although I kinda like the shorter length better

I was wondering about that law, too....
Did the mass-market one circumvent the law by slightly altering the top's bustline (the Guess one has more of a surplice-front thing going on, as opposed to the original's pure triangles which let the leather band stand on its own for a couple of inches) and hemline?
That said, I think I like the original better. The drape of the jersey just below the leather band in the center is slightly (ever so slightly) more ruched --which would be the difference between a slim, A-line cut, and the out-and-out "empire' waist of the guess that, when coupled with the surplice-top could possibly conspire to make one's waist seem thicker.
DEFINITELY try both of these on before plunking down $89. jersy is tricky if the construction isn't up to par....
12cute!
13the melero dress is better, i think, it
14looks better on thinly framed people.
so i think it would look better on me.
I like the Ingwa dress better because the length is better - the other dress looks like it should be longer and the material looks a lot cheaper even in the pic.
15I like the Guess dress better!
16True they look very similar, and that's great. However, the bust area on the Ingwa dress would only be flattering on those who have a very small chest. (Not me)
awesome match!
17I like the neckline on the original dress! But that said, I wouldn't mind the 2nd either! The design's cute!
18ooh I love that!!!
19I agree with some of the others - the splurge dress looks better, but i'm not sure whether it's just the way the two models are wearing the dresses, or whether it's actually the dress itself. it is gorgeous =)
