Get ready for some eye candy...of the clothing persuasion. The CW's new fall show "Gossip Girl" may be set at a Manhattan private school, but the three main female characters, Blair, Serena, and Jenny, will not just be wearing plaid.
The show is styled by costume designer Eric Daman, who worked with Pat Field on "Sex and the City" (!). Of his vision for the Gossip Girls, he says: "These girls have become like muses, and they know these young New York designers are right there with the ones on the verge. It's almost like they discover them before the buyers discover them."

Each character has a unique style, be it sophisticated, laid-back, or quirky, but between the three of them, their wardrobes run the gamut from Alice Ritter, Lanvin, Vena Cava, Alexander Wang, 3.1 Phillip Lim and Peter Som to Marc Jacobs, Miu Miu, and Chanel. In other words, lots and lots of clothes. Fab clothes.
As Blake Lively, who plays Serena, estimates, she tried on more than 500 dresses in two months between all the fittings for filming, publicity stills, and editorial shoots. Jelly much?

Who is looking forward to this show?? I am! Here's to hoping Josh Schwartz can pull off another teen angst drama that I will get hooked on. And the clothes will be awesome to watch!
Okay, whats up with Jenny Humphrey? How comes shes not a brunnete with a big bust? And Serena is not what I imagined, anc Chuck isnt as good looking as I imagined him. Nate is right on though.
I cant to watch it, the soundtrack seems good too.
Okay, where's Vanessa? And the casting for Jenny was incredibly off.
i cannot WAIT for this show!
The leading ladies of this show were on the cover of WWD last week. And, Leighton Meester was wearing a stunning dress by Julie Haus -floral with lots of blue. The other ladies were wearing Phillip Lim and Marc by Marc. All the dresses were amazing. Should be a good wardrobe watching show.
i don't think any of those actors look as hot as the characters were written. i will try to give it a chance but i have no high expectations.
I don't knwo anything about the book - but for some reason this show looks like it might be good - Hell I may even watch it just for the clothe!!!
i read the first volume of the book series.. before i even knew it would be a series. it seemed really shallow and kinda hated that i wasted my time reading that. maybe it'll translate better on tv but i have a feeling it's going to be overly dramatized teen trauma and debauchery. so what? at least the OC had adam brody and rachel bilson.
Lucky girl...500 dresses? What a dream.
The pilot was fantastic. And I really cant wait for the show.
I know I sound like a stick in the mud, but I hate it on sight. Those kids look annoying.
yeah, in my opinion, it looks kinda crappy from the adverts.
wow!, I'll watch it!
loove the gossip girls! i can't wait to watch the show AND to check out their wardrobe
i dont understand the comment about the actors not being as hot as the characters are written. I think the actress that plays blair is beyond beautiful and the guy playing the artsy dude (dan i think?) is very cute whereas in the book he never seemed particularly attractive
Rachel Zoe does the Facts of Life anyone??
when does this show start? i liked reading some of the books, "mind trash," as i liked to call it.
I absolutely loved reading the books. Its kinda like my school, minus everyone having really fab clothes! Like just some-some dress up in designer, and that's on the down-low so its not over done. I just can't wait for it to show!!
i´ll probably be watching.. i still miss the OC
Those kids definitely look like they're going to be painful to watch but who knows. I like Schwartz, he made my OC so maybe I'll try this out.
Agreed with Scarlet. I loved Gossip Girl, own every one of the books, and got almost the entire student body of my school addicted (I'm thirteen, shut up, haha). But, my favourite characters were Vanessa and Dan. WHERE IS VANESSA? :'(
And Jenny's supposed to have bouncy brown curls and huge...ahem...assets.
The books were sooo good... read them all cover to cover a few times... I'm already disappointed in the casting decisions... so it better be good b/c I will be the biggest critic... but I wont miss an episode!
cant wait for this series!
I've read all the books and they were by far my favorite teen lit novels! I LOVE IT! I am soooooo excited for this series and to see how it compares to the books. Although Jenny in the book isn't exactly who i pictured in the series. and yes they are all FAB
i want to be on the show just to wear the clothes
I CAN'T WAIT FOR THE SHOW!!!!!
I have every book! I love it!! Ahhh. Can't wait for the prequel book to come out too.
this has made me curious. i gotta see it now!
I've never read the books but I've heard they're quite entertaining...looks like I'll definitely be tuning in to an episode of this, it seems like fun
I read all the books, so I'm super excited for the TV show! The wardrobe looks amazing, but I don't think it will be influential in the way The O.C. was. I miss The O.C.!!
Chuck is a bit of a dissapointment but I managed to get my hands on the pilot via a friend and the show is very, very good. Keeping almost exactly to the book. Congrats Mr Schwartz.
I DONT KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT THE BOOK
I haven't seen the pilot yet but I'm willing to give it a try because Schwartz created it. I just hope it's as good as all the hype makes it out to be.
well having read the book, the clothes wont be on any of these people for long. sigh...so tired of oversexed, spoiled teenager shows....when is that going to stop?
I don't know about the book either.
GG is officially my new favourite TV show. I guess spoiled little rich kids always have a place on TV
i love this show! and they have great clothes! never read the book tho
The show is incredible and the clothes are amazing and the characters are beautiful and funny and great to watch
