There are certain boots you can't wear with socks. You know, the ones that make your socks slip off with every step. I recently experienced this with a new pair of taupe suede boots that are the same length as these Bottega Veneta Cutout Suede Ankle Boots ($1,090). They're gorgeous, I love them, but I hate that I can't wear them with socks. Sporty ankle socks, Peds, even dress socks slide right off when I walk. I like to wear socks with boots because they prevent blisters on my toes and heels. Do you feel me? If so, there's a simple solution.

To prevent blisters when wearing boots without socks, invest in some Toe Tape ($4). Instead of using it on your skin, cover the area inside the boot that has been causing blisters with it. Use as much as you need, the more padding, the better. That way, when your feet rubs up against the blister-causing area, it will now rub against the soft toe tape and not harsh the material. I already tested this out with my taupe boots and it worked wonders.

Ugh that sounds absolutely awful. I own plenty of boots and I can find socks for them. Otherwise I wouldn't buy them. The thought of my clammy foot slipping around in a boot gives me the heebie jeebies. I'm not a gymnast and I don't need to bind my feet to be fashionable. I did however invest in a pair of Paul & Joe boots 1/2 size too small for me that I can't even wear, so I make bad shopping decisions from time to time.
1Brilliant! I was having the same problem with my new grey suede booties. Thanks for the suggestion, I never would have thought of that. I just tried to prevent blisters by wearing band-aids on the parts that rubbed, but it didn't work
2Yeeeeah....I've never had issues with wearing socks in boots. Like, ever. Sometimes I wonder how many of the Sugar network posts are actually paid ads. Just sayin'.

4I first put antiperspirant on my feet(I use Kiehls because it comes out like a lotion) and then rub "Blister Block" by Band-Aid on top to reduce any friction. I think "Body Glide" would work the same way. If I still get blisters, then I use those special blister band-aids on the spots where it is rubbing. Yes, it is a lot of steps but I rather do all this then to suffer through blisters.
5Those boots are fab!
6fauxcats..I totally agree.
7Socks slipping off while you are wearing boots?!
How in the world are your socks coming off inside of your shoe? Impossible.
Great idea. I'm buying these right away. Though I always try to wear socks with boots to prevent foot odor caused by wearing shoes w/o socks, but I hope that wearing closed shoes w/o socks once or twice isn't that bad.
8Wow, that link for Toe Tape....the shipper is charging $9.95 for a $3.25 item....uhm, horrible.
9You can also try using Mole Skin, find it next to the band-aids. Its the same idea, really soft, and you can cut it to fit.
