Whisking us away to Miami circa 1940, Fab has a new favorite! The Abaete Spring collection was polished, colorful and youthful. A mix of art deco and screen siren style, here is a collection to covet. Silhouettes were form fitting but also flowy in fabrics like stretch silk and cotton. Color blocking added some sportiness, while rhinestone embellishments added sassiness; this is very reminiscent of Coco Chanel's seaside separates. One would wear these wares while playing a game of badminton and then lounge around sipping a Tom Collins. Refreshing and bold, the colors were a cool mix of neutrals, black, white and standouts like teal and cornflower blue. I could do without the rosettes, but the cool plastic shades and sparkling clear bangles added bling.
Oh, and if you noticed the lovely ladylike shoes, they will be available come February at Payless via the Abaete for Payless collection!

im liking that color on that dress
1This collection is hit or miss with me. Some of the lines and cuts are very flattering, while others are just so sloppy. Likewise, some of the colors are fun and funky while others are just so drab and dull. That beige and pink number? Blah! And that two piece bathing suit didn't even look good on the model, so i shudder to think what it would look like on a real person!
2Ooo I love the 1940's wear!
3Sooo chic and classy!

4I love a retro-glam look, and this is totally it! I cannot wait for the shoe line. Abaete is a designer that I go back and forth on each season, but I love this.
The colors, the parasoles, the lines--gorgeous!
5I'm in LUV !!!! I love the retro yet femininity of the pieces....it's a win win !!!

7I loovvve those colors and the art deco vibe. Too bad we have to wait for spring!
8Yes. Fab this is one of my faves too. Man, those colors and the dresses and the way they fit and cinch at the waist. Lovely. That blue is to die for. Although if I had to pick a favorite it would be the dress with the white and green and black belted waist. That's just gorgeous.
9I love those blues and greens!
10Wow - I love this entire collection, especially the wide leg pant halter top look. Wish I could wear it now!
11Beautiful collection.
12Wow that blue dress!! Fabulous!!
13Ok guys. I really loved that spring collection. And I was doing some serious pouting because I can't have those dresses right now. BUT, bluefly.com has a ton of abaete pieces on sale. Yay. Perfect for fall too, grays, blacks and whites and some color too. Check it out - http://www.bluefly.com/pages/browse/list.jsp?FOLDER%3C%3Efolder_id=20395...
And this is the dress I think I might be buying, what do you all think?
14I love Abaete's use of symmetry and bold lines to turn tried-and-true silhouettes into something edgy and unique. A kind of glamorous, updated mod--and are they an Italian line? They have that sharp, glossy look that usually comes out of Milan.
15i love the classic feel of the silhouettes yet the modern usage of color and fabric
16I love the colors in this collection and I love the 40's appeal to it. I think that I might have to use this collection as inpiration for next spring!
17That blue dress is gorgeous...Im also luvin the slightky curvier models.
18Gorgeous. All of it. Love the colors and the designs.
19cute clothes, but I'm not really feeling her payless shoe line.
