There are so many mascaras out there, I feel like I could try a new one every day. I guess I'm not the only one, because according to the NPD Group, Americans spent $245 million on mascaras at department stores in 2005. That's a lot of loot for lush lashes. To help you choose, here's a look at some of the new lengthening mascaras on the market. (Tune in tomorrow for New Mascara Mania, Part II.) Here are some of my favorites.

Global Goddess Exotic Eyes Lash Building Mascara is by a smaller brand that's making its way into the mainstream. This water-resistant formula is meant to volumize and darken for serious pigmentation, and it contains Japanese camellia oil, African beeswax, and Indian mowrah butter to help soften and add shine. Buy it here for $23.
Lancome Défincils High Definition Mascara is out of this world. This has always been one of my top picks, probably because my gorgeous-lashed Mom wears it, and now there's a new formula meant to create even more length and definition. It separates and shapes magnificently and is super safe for those who wear contact lenses. Buy it in four shades here for $22.

No post on lengthening mascaras without a mention of the fabulash Dior Show Mascara. Ladies swear by this brand and buy it in bulk to ensure they never leave home without a fresh tube. The thick and rich formula glides on smoothly, thanks to the super-sized brush. Buy it in three colors here for $23.

ooo Ill have to try some of these. Fab are you going to have any drug store editions of fav mascaras. I always want volume over length...my lashes look better that way weird but true
1thats awsome maybe ill try the lancome

I spend a fortune on makeup but for some reason it irritates me to spend money on mascara. I've had such good luck with drugstore ones too. I swear by Covergirl Professional, the Maybelline pink/green tube and SkyHigh curves.
I may have to try this Dior one, though. I'm pretty intrigued on these new ones...
3I'm torn between trying Lancome's Defincils & Dior DiorShow. I've heard so many great things about both!
Has anyone tried both?
4I'll stick by what my favourite makeup artist turned me on to a while back: L'Oreal Telescopic Mascara! AMAZING!!!
5I am obsessed with the quest for the perfect mascara, so far, my two favorites are one i got from avon, and false eyelash by prescriptives
6I've been DYING to try DIORSHOW, but I misplaced my Sephora gift card. I've been using Shu Umera and I love how it looks on, but it is a pain to take off. I really hate that!
7dior show is always sold out before i get to sephora!!
i've been looking for the best lenthening and curling mascara (since my lashes are pretty much non-existent and stick straight). i was surfing online and found this girl who just started her own company and her mascara is awesome!! (and well priced!) i'm already on my second tube of her faux lash mascara.
8I've paid $20+ for several tubes of mascara only to find that plain ol' L'Oreal Voluminous (at a whopping $7 per tube) works wonders on my lashes. I think it's just a matter of finding the right brush and right formula for your lashes. The Lancome, Dior and Urban Decay mascaras didn't even come close to giving me the length and volume that Voluminous does.
9Has anyone tried the new Chanel mascara that all the magazines were all over? I currently use chanel, but have used Lancome and Dior-- I need something that doesn't smudge (and yes, I get waterproof).
10I always use the L'ancome Definicils and haven't gone back to drug store brands in a couple of years now. The difference is so huge. Not one clump!
11Well, I got the Diorshow waterproof mascara and I love it. I think it is actually worth it!

12Anyone know if these mascaras will stick to contact lenses? I don't want it to scratch my corneas as I'm wearing them...=(
