Diane von Furstenberg has a new direction for Spring: step away from her iconic wrap dresses and embrace flowing, colorful ones. Though a few safari-style wrap dresses crept onto the catwalk (it wouldn't be DVF without it), most pieces were loose maxi frocks and tee shirt dresses in bright and bold colors. There were some vintage-inspired skirt suits and voluminous tunics in amazing tropical prints. Fun!
A good mix of prints and solids came up, the former being geometric but not square. A couple of ombre dresses were shown in colors that resembled rainbow sherbet ice cream...quite delectable! Surprisingly, though flowy dresses dominated, the overall look was not super feminine. Cuban-style fedoras and funky prints gave the collection an air of masculinity that we've all been craving lately.

is anyone having trouble with seeing the pictures?
i love DVF - she made a perfume that i was named after
1I'm not very impressed. DVF can do much better. The silouhettes were very unstructured and there was no cohesiveness to the collection.
2Doesn't it look like Uli's line at fashion week last year? All the maxi dresses in bold colors and prints. I can hear Nina telling Uli that she needs to stay away from "Miami"
Yeah, a couple of great pieces, but overall - not my favorite.
3I have definitely seen cuter collections from her. These pieces were very uninspired. I think I only liked one.. the ombre' dress.
4I really like it! I would completely wear at least 6 of those outfits. DVF is a classic.
5I like the collection overall, but not what I expected. Isn't this a lot like the 2007 spring line. I could be wrong.
6Syako, I too remember that. Acutally, I look at the designs and the designers themselves and see a lot of PR's people and ideas. I don't know what the judges are talking about because they wear it/feature it in the magazine/covet it.
Back to DVF, great collection. She is another designer who can embrace color and pattern, just like MK. It may not be the most innovative, or expected, but it's great she is stepping away from her comfort zone.
7I LOVE DVF. Love.
8Ahhhh...I love DVF!!!one of my favs!!!
