It would be nice if every household had a garment steamer but the reality is that the majority don't. So then what is a girl to do when she has a fabulous cocktail party to attend and her Philosophy di Alberta Ferretti Satin Strapless Dress, $995, is all wrinkled? Yes, an old fashioned iron might do the trick, but sometimes a fabric is too delicate for that. Plus, your lackluster ironing skills may burn a hole in your lovely dress. Oh no!

Chances are you're going to shower before you head to your soiree, right? While you're getting clean, your wrinkly dress can get...well, unwrinkly. All you have to do is hang your darling frock somewhere in the bathroom while you shower. The idea is to let the steam from your shower permeate the dress, much like a garment steamer. There you have it; a garment steaming process without the bulky machine!

Yes, this does work sometimes. Not a bad idea.
Um my veil for my wedding was dewrinkled this way. I tend to this with very delicate clothing it seems to work.
This works for sure! Ive always used this method for de-wrinkling my clothes.
hahaha i do this too!
i have also always used this method, steamers are too expensive!
I do this!!!!! My shower and bathroom gets super steamy so I just hang up my clothes (usually a dress) and go
I've been doing this forever. It's definitly more efficiant than ironing.
A neat trick I use is I cut out a nice big square from an old linen blouse and use it to protect the delicate material from the iron.
i think i'm going to try this!
Easy and so true!
This works great...but word to the wise: Be very very careful when removing your item from the steamed room and do not let it touch the walls (I learned this the hard way and got wet spots all over my blouse)
fab, what would we do without you? what an awesome idea.
Buying a steamer is totally worth it. You can get an inexpensive full-size one or even a travel steamer at Walmart or Target. I take short showers and find the shower trick doesn't always work. At least with the steamer you can target specific areas and then smooth them out with your hand.
i've done this before-it does work. i have also taken my clothes to the steam room when i get changed at the gym.
I saw that tip on an episode of Queer Eye. I kind of miss that show even though it got formulaic after the first season
I totally do this, too! Easy and efficient. Awesome.
never actually tried it..but I've heard that it works for many people.
This is a great tip and it generally works very well!
This is really handy when you're travelling & staying somewhere without an iron!
I do this every now and then but my laziness gets the best of me most of the time.
I think I must be doing something wrong, because this never works for me. I always try it, thinking it will, and then get frustrated because it didn't.
The trick is to put the dress in the shower before you get in. Make sure your shower is on the hottest temp and let it steam up the dress/shirt for a few minutes. THEN get in the shower...and don't forget to turn the water temp down!
Will have to try this!
i have a steamer i got for $70 from linens n things (or bed bath and beyond, not sure)...worth every penny!
Steamers rock! These days you get get a very decent iron with a separate water tank and they're a lot more compact than a steamer and far cheaper. I couldn't live without mine! Ironing anything right side up is a bad idea, it takes the good out of the fabric, especially jersey, so if you have the option of steaming your better quality clothes for less than €100, why wouldn't you???
ooo. Good pointer. This is totally unrelated, but that purple dressy is really pretty!
Oooh, good one!!!
i do this all the time, but it doesnt always work. its good on cottons that are a little wrinkled, but steam can ruin certain silks...
