It would be nice if every household had a garment steamer but the reality is that the majority don't. Chances are you're going to shower before you head to your soiree, right? While you're getting clean, your wrinkly dress can get...well, unwrinkly. All you have to do is hang your darling frock somewhere in the bathroom while you shower. The idea is to let the steam from your shower permeate the dress, much like a garment steamer. There you have it; a garment steaming process without the bulky machine!

1Um my veil for my wedding was dewrinkled this way. I tend to this with very delicate clothing it seems to work.

6I've been doing this forever. It's definitly more efficiant than ironing.
7A neat trick I use is I cut out a nice big square from an old linen blouse and use it to protect the delicate material from the iron.

12Buying a steamer is totally worth it. You can get an inexpensive full-size one or even a travel steamer at Walmart or Target. I take short showers and find the shower trick doesn't always work. At least with the steamer you can target specific areas and then smooth them out with your hand.
13i've done this before-it does work. i have also taken my clothes to the steam room when i get changed at the gym.

20I think I must be doing something wrong, because this never works for me. I always try it, thinking it will, and then get frustrated because it didn't.
21The trick is to put the dress in the shower before you get in. Make sure your shower is on the hottest temp and let it steam up the dress/shirt for a few minutes. THEN get in the shower...and don't forget to turn the water temp down!

24Steamers rock! These days you get get a very decent iron with a separate water tank and they're a lot more compact than a steamer and far cheaper. I couldn't live without mine! Ironing anything right side up is a bad idea, it takes the good out of the fabric, especially jersey, so if you have the option of steaming your better quality clothes for less than €100, why wouldn't you???

27i do this all the time, but it doesnt always work. its good on cottons that are a little wrinkled, but steam can ruin certain silks...
