Sandal with the upper part made of woven strips of leather. Of Mexican and Spanish origin. They have been around for hundreds of years and were popular among Mexican villagers and peasants. In modern day fashion, huaraches can be high-heeled.

4I have always loved Huaraches (the flat heeled type, lol) but my sister-in-law has told me that it's taboo to wear them - she called me stuck in the 80's and refuses to let me wear them around her, haha!! That's ok ... I'm not around her much anyway!
