Wait! Before you play this video close your eyes. I bet you can recite not only the lyrics but exactly what Kurt Cobain wore in this video. If you can't, Marc Jacobs certainly can. After all, this was the look that spawned his infamous "grunge collection" for Perry Ellis in 1992. Ironically, he was soon dismissed from the house — no matter, he obviously found his path. But back to Kurt. You know the look: striped shirt over long sleeve tee, dirty jeans, beat up Chucks and dirty cardigans. Oh, and don't forget the flannels! It was the anti-fashion look that made fashion history. Kurt was a singular sensation.

Oh Marc!!!
1I was SO into the grunge/"riot girl" look in high school...this song came out my freshman year and everyone I knew was dressing "grunge-y".
I actually had a Gap t-shirt that resembled Kurt's in this video...I wore it all the time.
2RIP, still listening to some of your music
3I love him ^^
4i dont think he should be idolized - he'w a moron that was a terrible influence to teens
5A moron? That's harsh.
6wow i agree with jess. harsh
love grunge & nirvana
rip. Kurt Cobain
7Oh. My. God. Thist is so weird, I just listen to this song about an hour ago for the first time in months and I was thinking about how much I loved the video and those dead-eyed cheerleaders when it first came out. I thought, hmm, I must look it up on YouTube sometime. Freaky!!
8"dirty jeans, beat up Chucks and dirty cardigans. Oh, and don't forget the flannels! "
so true
9I adore Kurt Cobain,RIP. I love Nirvana
10That's an awesome song!!!
11I never knew that about Marc Jacobs. I'm sure the house was kicking themselves a little after letting him go, especially during the grunge wave.
12ironic that fashion was probably the least of his concerns.
13I'm too young to know this kind of stuff. I was born in 1992. Obviouxly I've heard of him and listened to a few songs by him but...
14I was 16 when this came out and remember well how bitterly disappointed I was that JUST as I was old enough to start dating, all the guys I knew suddenly stopped taking showers and washing their clothes. I still haven't forgiven Nirvana for this.
However, credit where credit is due... Kurt Cobain did a lot to make me open to trying music in other languages. I couldn't understand a single word of the lyrics in "Teen Spirit." So when I later encountered songs in French, German, and Japanese, it didn't bother me in the least that I had no idea what the lyrics were about.
15With the lights out its less dangerous
Here we are now
Entertain us
I feel stupid and contagious
Here we are now
Entertain us
A mulatto
An albino
A mosquito
My libido
Yea
And I forget
16Just what it takes
And yet I guess it makes me smile
I found it hard
Its hard to find
Oh well, whatever, nevermind
love you kurt, rip...love mj too
17I couldn't stand the grudge look.
I've always liked Nirvana, though.
