most likely not, although at this point i'd consider everything. i've gone to 4 different dress shops and haven't found anything. this whole wedding dress shopping thing is so frustrating! I
don't expect to fall in love with a dress, but I do expect to put one on and think i look great.
I'm planning on it. I'm of Indian heritage and my fiance is of Irish heritage and though we're having a completely secular ceremony, I'm wanting to incorporate a little of my culture into my
big day.
So, here's how I'm tackling that:
Western wedding color = white
Indian wedding color = red
Red + White = PINK!
I'm hoping for a cream-colored dress with bright pink piping. Unfortunately, it only exists in my imagination right now. Here's to hoping I can find it out in the real world! Wish me luck
I wore a dark green bridesmaid dress at my wedding. We had a very small wedding and I wanted something different. Besides I look horrible in white and cream!
Everybody who sees our photos loves it. I wouldn't change a thing.
I won't be wearing any color but white to my wedding, but I was just recently at a friend's wedding and she wore a blood red dress. It was absolutely stunning and definitely suited her!
I wore vanilla (a dark ecru) with a gold sash. I'm not sure if that counts, but I loved it much more than the standard whites/ivories. I would have worn pink had my husband allowed me the
pink wedding I wanted!
I think it all depends on where the wedding is, an whihc type of wedding it is (exotic, traditional, etc.). I'm not going to DEFINATLY wear white or DEFINATLY wear not white. Plus that is so
far away I don't even want to think about it haha! I have never thoguht about what my wedding is going to be like!
I think to each their own. It's not something I would really do get married my dress will have a little flair of color in it. I see way too many of the same thing these days.
Missjaime, maybe you can find a tailor or seamstress in your area to make one for you, if you can sketch what you want it to look like or get someone to make a sketch for you? Or get a cream
dress and add some pink piping, or get someone to do that for you.
The bride was so stunningly beautiful at this Indian wedding I saw when I was passing by a temple. She was wearing this flowy red sari with gold embroidery that was sparkling in the sunlight.
It was unreal, almost like she was wearing fire. I so wish I could steal that look. Too bad I'm not Indian. Hee.
Traditional Chinese bridal wear color is also red. Seems to be the thing at Chinese weddings for the bride to change at least twice, like it's a fashion show. First the white dress, then a
ball gown, then the traditional red robe thing. I wore my mom's ball gown (from when she did this at her wedding) to my prom.
If I ever do get married, I'd go the stunning red dress route. Forego the changing. I'm not fond of the robe thing, and I don't like to wear white, so that'd be the way to go. Plus, that way
I can probably use the dress again.
i think it all depends on the type of wedding it is! i plan on getting married on a beach.. this is still far away! lol but that my dream! and i think that i would like a white dress...but
not so much princess like.. still white and flowy and nicley fit.. ahhh yes can you tell i do think about this!... one day ...maybe like 5 years from now! it will be perfect i tell you!
Looseseal -- that is SUCH a good idea! I'm taking my inspiration from pink and white roses, so hopefully -- I'll be able to find someone who can help me out.
I think Indian tradition is beautiful, but not for me. Plus, those 20lbs of jewelry that brides traditionally wear would weigh me down and I want to be light so I can dance all night!
I would wear a lavender wedding dress with white accents, just to have some white in the look. Traditionally, only virgins are supposed to wear a white wedding dress to represent their
purity. Since 90% (at least) of us are not virgins when we get married, I would think, traditionally, that white is out of the question.
I wanted to! I would have LOVED to wear a jewel-colored dress like that photo, but my husband-to-be forbade it. He insisted it had to be white or cream. Otherwise the wedding was off. We'd
already filed the paperwork at City Hall and were legally married, so it's not like he was going to break things off over a dress. But he absolutely refused to have a ceremony without a white
dress. We compromised on cream, which IMO wasn't a compromise at all, but by that point I'd given up on having any say in my own wedding and just accepted that I was nothing more than a doll
to be dressed up and trotted about by our families.
Maybe ... depending on the dress style. Last summer I shopped with my sister for her wedding dress and there was beautiful ones in other color than white. Particularly I saw a very gorgeous
one which was chocolate and cream
I would (if I were into that marriage thing) definitely. I look awful in white (uber pale) so I would rather wear something that would make me look more lively.
I don't think I would
but I love love love love Dita Von Teese...and I loved her and Marilyn as a couple... and she looked absolutely striking in her wedding gown
No way. I WANT a white/cream dress. I just saw a show on Style where a woman wore a red dress and it looked terrible. It looked like she was going to the prom not her wedding.
I'm indian and and love the culture. I'd definately love a traditional indian wedding, with all that decoration but I don't think I'd wear red. My cousin wore a white sari with a red border
when she married and I loved the idea. A merging of both traditions.
WHITE DRESES FOR ME!!! but i was thinking maybe a pink sash at the waist or some little splash of color like that, but the dress will most definitely be white
I was just thinking about this yesterday! I saw a gorgeous light green dress that I would love to have, but it's so glamorous that a wedding is the only reason I'd have to wear it.
I've seen silver and slightly tinted off-whites (barely pink, etc) that worked well. I think with the right venue and the right bride almost any color could work. As for me, I won't worry too
much about it until I'm engaged.
I wore white to my first wedding, but when it came to the second one, I wanted something different. I was marrying a very nontraditional guy, so I wore electric blue! The dress looked great
on me, and it is a dress that I would wear again to another function. No one has to know it was my wedding dress! The first one just sits in my closet, turning yellow.
i'm not sure. it depends on where i get married. if i get married in a church..then definitely white. But, if it's in Vegas or on the beach somewhere then I'm open to other colors.
Not everyone looks good in white, so I can understand why certain people would be interested in a different look. Personally, I think I'd stick with the traditional look, but I could always
be persuaded if I found a dress in a different color that I really liked

2white wedding for sure
3No, not for me.
4Maybe...you never know...

10Nope...I didn't even want to wear ivory! My dress was diamond white and it was BEAUTIFUL. I am sad I'll never wear it again
11Oh no I want a white dress! It's symbolic.

16I got married in Vegas & wore a pink dress & my husband wore a pin stripe suit. I don't regret it, I love my pink dress & it was perfect for me!
17Looseseal -- that is SUCH a good idea! I'm taking my inspiration from pink and white roses, so hopefully -- I'll be able to find someone who can help me out.

18I've already been married and wore the white dress but I won't do it again.
19I want to have an evening wedding just so I can wear a black dress. I look hideous in white.
20If I ever walk the plank (oops...aisle) again, I would definitely wear color!
21I would wear a lavender wedding dress with white accents, just to have some white in the look. Traditionally, only virgins are supposed to wear a white wedding dress to represent their purity. Since 90% (at least) of us are not virgins when we get married, I would think, traditionally, that white is out of the question.
22Yeah, I don't look good in white either so I'm thinking either pale pink or silver (not metallic) would look great.
23I wanted to! I would have LOVED to wear a jewel-colored dress like that photo, but my husband-to-be forbade it. He insisted it had to be white or cream. Otherwise the wedding was off. 24I don't think I can wear white. Haha
25inertia, isn't it the bride's perogative to wear whatever she wants? I would have said "too bad, leave me then."
I think I would regret it if I didn't wear white. That said, I want the dress to be more ivory than stark white.
26My cousin, who is a costume designer, custom designed a RED one for herself and it was so gorgeous and so her. Stunning.
27Mine was champagne. I'm in love with that dress! hearts!
28My wedding dress was periwinkle and beautiful. I loved it!
29Does cream or ivory count as color?? Or are we talking stark white?? Champagne would be lovely...
30Maybe ... depending on the dress style. Last summer I shopped with my sister for her wedding dress and there was beautiful ones in other color than white. Particularly I saw a very gorgeous one which was chocolate and cream

33I don't think I would
34but I love love love love Dita Von Teese...and I loved her and Marilyn as a couple... and she looked absolutely striking in her wedding gown
No, I don't think so. Colors other than white just don't look 'wedding-ly' to me lol
35My dress was off white silk. If I got divorced and married again I would consider a color other than white/cream.
36No way. I WANT a white/cream dress. I just saw a show on Style where a woman wore a red dress and it looked terrible. It looked like she was going to the prom not her wedding.
37Is that marilyn manson in the phot? Sure looks like him.
38i wore a pink skirt and an ivory sweater, and i loved it!
39but my wedding was tres casual.
I'm indian and and love the culture. I'd definately love a traditional indian wedding, with all that decoration but I don't think I'd wear red. My cousin wore a white sari with a red border when she married and I loved the idea. A merging of both traditions.
40i'm usually not that conservative, but, with weddings i like the traditional white dress.
41white, I wouldn't mind a little splash of color but I'll stick to tradition here.
42WHITE DRESES FOR ME!!! but i was thinking maybe a pink sash at the waist or some little splash of color like that, but the dress will most definitely be white
43if i could do what Gwen Stefani did with the white dress dipped in pink at the bottom that would be cool too. her dresss was GORGEOUS!!
44I was just thinking about this yesterday! I saw a gorgeous light green dress that I would love to have, but it's so glamorous that a wedding is the only reason I'd have to wear it.

I say, Go for it!

47depends! i remember this photo spread and i thought Dita's dress was completely stunning in that color! not sure i could pull it off though.
48Not everyone looks good in white, so I can understand why certain people would be interested in a different look. Personally, I think I'd stick with the traditional look, but I could always be persuaded if I found a dress in a different color that I really liked
49I think i'm going to wear my mom's dress, but if i don't i'm open to any color.
