Remember a while ago I talked about Katie Holmes' fashion metamorphosis and her increasingly fashion forward style? We have seen a lot from her since then solidifying my hypothesis. I have to say: I'm impressed. Some say she dresses too old for her age, this is true, but here at the premiere to Lions for Lambs in Berlin, Germany she looks like a bona fide starlet. A sucker for sparkles, I think her super sparkly Armani Prive look is balanced with just the right amount of skin. But I can see how some might not approve. However, those shoes? Brilliance.

1I think she dresses way too old for her age. The clothes she wears and her hair cut really age her. Married mom or not, she should lighten up.
2She does not seem comfortable in these clothes, those shoes, that makeup etc. I'm not expecting Joey Potter, but her smile and persona seemed more genuine when she was fresh-faced and Tom-less.

13I think the dress went wrong in the design. The dropping waistline reminds me of an 80's prom dress. If the waist hit at her natural waistline it would be killer. And I LOVE the hair. So healthy looking.

15I have to say, I just HATE those shoes! Ugh, they're like something I'd expect a tranny to wear walking down 9th ave. And I think the dress is beautiful from some angles, and downright ODD from others - from the side, it poofs out horribly.

18I didn't even recognize her at first. I think it is her lips that make her face look different. I agree with oblio000 that she looks like Sandra Bullock. Also, I hate how the dress poofs out at the skirt. It makes her look like she's pregnant again. Her shoes make her stand like she's gonna tip over, too.
19I LOVE her makeup here, she looks great! The shoes are AMAZING! I don't like the front gathered puff of the dress but she can pull it off. She is finding her way...

40Her body is not the right type to pull off this thing,the top fits her really badly. I think the dress would have looked good on someone else, however 80s prom it may be.
41i love her shoes, but they are way too much with that dress. plus, the dress looks ill-fitting, like she has to stand funny so it doesn't fall off or something.
42The dress is wearing her, not the other way around. It didn't seem to fit her properly. The shoes could be cute, maybe in another color, w/o the sequins, or just with a simpler (sleeker) outfit. I think the lips look big because someone else did her makeup.
It's like 2 different people are dressing her. Look at her at the premiere the Hairspray (in NYC, I think) and compare to this outing. Also compare her shopping in Paris during Fashion Week and the funky print shift that she wore going out to dinner with Tom in Berlin. The dress was short, but the print was very matronly.

45I'm undecided because don't like sparkly things but I like the cut from the back, hate it from the front. I think that it would have looked A LOT better if it was drop-waisted all the way around instead of just the back because it causes the front to sit up strangely as if it's being pulled back because its heavy or something (does that make sense?). And a simple shoe would be a lot better than those nasties. They're way overdone - as if the dress wasn't overly sparkly on its own.
46Umm, usually she's impeccable (lately, anyway) but this outfit doesn't do her justice. Not too old ... just not quite right. The dress poofs up front at her belly-area too much ... her hair looks like she stuck her finger in a lightsocket ... the shoes are not quite right for the dress. And yeah, her date isn't quite all there either.

I totally agree with you fab, I love how the dress isn't too glittery & girly, because of the great silhouette! And those shoes are amazing! The whole outfit is gorgeous!
