9aphill4: A Tam is similar. It comes from Scotland or Ireland — it's also the kind of knit hat Rastafari wear. I'd say they're less polished than berets, more urban.

18I love berets! Ok, another question ... what's the beret with a bill called? I have one that is mauve faux suede - has a small bill - not nearly as large as say a baseball cap. Is it still considered a beret because of the rest of the hat?
