Last night's Project Runway brought the much-dreaded unusual-material challenge. The designers found themselves at the Hershey's store in Times Square scooping up Reese's candies, Hershey Kiss pillows, and whatever else they could get their hands on in the five-minute grab session. All of the designers, save one, ended up using candy wrappers, paper, or pillow fabric to fashion their garments: Chris warned about the dangers of working with food. Jillian was the lone ranger, daring to use Twizzler's to embellish her design and catch guest judge Zac Posen's eye. Her decision gave her a lot of trouble, but worked out in the end — would you have risked it like she did, for extra brownie points?

And, while we're on the subject, could you have really seen Chris's outfit "shot for the pages of Elle," as Nina said? For a full run down of the "Eye Candy" episode, be sure to check out what Buzz has to say.

Dress for Less
i like the idea. everyone seems to forget about the annual chocolate show that they have here in NYC. those dresses are made out of chocolate and they've even televised it on the Food Network
1I thought Jillian was brave to use the candy itself. I actually thought her dress was better than Rami's. I think Rami and Jillian have a chemistry thing going on and I also think the two of them will be in the final three.
2I missed it! Who got the boot? Chris?
3OMG mommie - that's exactly what me and my roomie were saying yesterday - that they should hook up... lol..
4i don't know about jillian's dress though - it was alright - a little cartoonish or something though.. can't put my finger on it...
i liked chris's though - it was cute and stylish looking.. i also liked the hershey bubble skirt - now that was fuun looking.
I like this challenge. It seems that the fashion industry has exhausted all the environmental distressful materials and final come to a green sense that eatable stuff for fashion is remarkable. It is multi-purposed fashion and can disappears without causing harm, all of these make the fashion more precious.
5i loved chris' dress!! and i thought the hershey bubble skirt was cute too. but i thought jillian put in the most effort. romi's dress was fun but i dont think it shouldve won.
in the end i was extremely happy with who went home.
6Guys, I think Rami is gay,so I don't think they will be hooking up. Actually they are both my favorite designers of the show.
7I think twizzlers were ok since you can just put some heavy duty glue on them and they should stay. I am getting a little annoyed with all the obvious ad campaigning on PR and Top Chef...Saturn, Hersheys etc. I wonder how much they made from Hersheys for that episode.
8i loved jillian's dress! i was actually shocked that she didn't win the challenge. the truth is, she took a risk - and it paid off bigtime. the other designers were really cowardly when it came to the challenge. while rami's dress was interesting, i just don't think it was as innovative as jillian's.
i was also really impressed with chris. he usually is so costumey and i usually hate his outfits (the one for whats the skinny - with that red -- ew), and the fact that he didnt go nuts with this challenge, made me think that he can actually pull off a collection of ready to wear. plus, i love stephen sprouse, and the mixture of the words and the dress itself was chic!
i hated vivian's dress - it was just a mess, and she really cannot take any criticism. sweet pea's was also a mess. tim gunn had it right when he said it looked like a coffee filter.
but despite their horrible looks, the right person went home. that brown dress was a serious mess. it was like a rag.
9damn it damn it damn it!
i hate college cable! seriously.
we get like... nothing.
we get porn, for real.
but not project runway.
i guess i have to visit my mom and the tivo soon! i wanna see that so bad.
10I'd like to mix the edible/non-edible elements. I would have been nice to use 90% non-edible elements but then throw in a food accent, like twizzlers on a trim or something.
I think it's cute how Jillian and Rami seem like buddies. I love Sweet Pea's reaction shots. I think her time's about up, but I'll really miss how animated she is!
As of now I'm calling a Rami, Jillian, and Kevin final 3. Anyone else want to make a prediction?
11i've already picked my favorites... jilian, rami and christian!!! i love them! it was so brave of her to choose to do an edible garment and for that, she's become my number one... christian's resses dress was clever and rami's was just perfect
...
12Ah! Zac Posen was a guest judge. I almost got the same chills that I did when I saw Sarah Jessica Parker.
I don't think that the twizzler dress was one of Jillian's best designs. She was creative (great), but the outfit didn't speak to me.However, I loved the skirt. She truly does have a good sense of style.
Why doesn't Christian win more challenges? He always creates the futuresque pieces. He's the next big thing, seriously.
13Cocca- I think it will be Jillian, Rami and Christian as well, but they usually throw one bad one in there. Overall, I like Victoria's designs also.
This challenge reminded me of Austin in Season 1 when he did the corn dress. It turned out beautifully but it wilted before the runway show!
I might be too afraid to use any candy/food if I didn't have to, although twizzlers probably have enough chemicals in them to keep them preserved!
14I picked other. I definitely wouldn't have relied on edible materials for the bulk of my garment.
When Jillian was in there grabbing all the Twizzlers as her main material I just kept thinking that she needed something to fall back on because that was way risky. I was pretty much shocked when she finished on time. (But I guess they probably edited it to make it come off that way.)
I guess I could see Chris' garment being featured. But I could for sure see the winning garment in a photo spread.
15I have to say I loved Jillian's Twizzler dress when I saw that they were going to the Hershey store I immediately though of a twizzler dress. I think she should have won just because the dress was very creative but not cartoony it was actually elegant. I love Rami too his designs are always well finished and designed and fitted so well it's amazing especially the skirt of his dress with the York wrappers and the way they were perfectly alligned it was genius. I think he and jillian and Christian will be the final 3. Chris was absolutely inspired last night as well but I did like Christians design better. i don't like his attitude but I do like his work
16I would never have done an edible dress, but when I saw Jillian's Twizzler dress I gasped. It was so fantastic. I still can't believe it didn't win, but I'm still thinking of the dress.
