Just when the designers on Project Runway thought their limits had been pushed, they were asked to go that extra inch. Last night, Tim Gunn challenged them to create two outfits in two days: one avant-garde and one every day. Paired off into teams and inspired by their model's crazy braided, mohawked, and crimped hairdos, the designers set off in all different directions. Team Jillian and Victorya went punk glam, Team Fierce (Chris and Christian) used 45 yards of fabric on one gown, Team Kit and Ricky were inspired by Little Bo Peep, and Team Rami and Sweet P were all about the (personal) drama. But when it comes down to it, which did you prefer — the avant-garde looks or the every day?

Avant-garde
Avante-garde! I really like the crazy looks. Afterall PR is about have fun and being creative and showcasing what you can do. There is plenty of time to be "boring" and typical with designs.
i like them both, but i like watching
the avant-garde better cause the designs
are just so outrageous!
Both were fun to look out, but I like the ready to wear ;].
Avant-garde is fun to look at, but I also prefer ready-to-wear.
I love fashion runaway!
avant-garde! u can get so many ideas on fashion and design just by looking at one couture dress!!! ready to wear just seems too boring for me...
Definitely avant garde! Its art that you can take ideas from and apply to everyday.
Last night's show was AMAZING!!!! The judges are always saying "show us who you are" -- Kit's dress was sooooo Kit. It wasn't avant garde though.
I liked seeing the a-g because it helped me understand what made a couture dress "couture."
This has been the best challenge yet for the season...that coat was absolutely incredible!
I loved the avante-garde just because it was so different... I generally like the show for the practicality of the ready-to-wear, but it was fun to mix things up for a change! I was really impressed with some of the creativity.
I love the avant-garde look so much better!
I preferred the avant-garde look - and might I add, I am SO glad that Christian and Chris won!!! Go Team Fierce!!!
Team Fierce's avante-garde piece was just amazing. And it made you wonder why all of the other teams complained about the time crunch, when their piece is so meticulously well made!
I love the black gowns but sometimes the avant-garde is just too much to look at
Avante-Garde, for sure! Chris & Christian's dress was the first thing I've gotten excited about this whole season of PR.
Avant garde! This is what fashion is all about!
avant garde...i agree geek!
each episode i love that little christian more and more!!!! i hope he wins
Every day.
FINALLY a great challenge!!!!!!!!! They seriously have been lacking lately. I loved this challenge. Chirs and Christian are a perfect team and to turn out that kind of work in 2 days is crazy!!!!
Is it just me or was Christian and Chris's avant-garde dress a carbon copy of Galliano for Dior?
i would totally rock victoria/jillian's jacket!! and christian/chris's dress was just fabulous!
Avant Garde. But I was kinda bummed Kit was auffed.
I prefer the avant garde looks to the everyday, though I loved Sweet Pea's dress. I was so happy that Chris and Christian won. Their avant garde look was absolutely beautiful. Also that jacket was awesome.
Mostly, the avant-garde looks, but I did LOVE Sweet Pea's ready to wear frock. That and Victoria's couture coat are my favorites.
BTW - I was REALLy sad to see Kit go last night. This was not her challenge, but she's been my favorite from the jump. Her stuff has been amazing up til now and I think the judges made a huge mistake. I am sure we will see more of her work though outside the constraints of the show.
Chris and Christian's dress was amazing!!!
I loved Christian and Chris' work this week. The avant garde was great to look and looked expensive and very detailed. The wearable one was put together quickly but was still a great look. I am shocked to see Kit go though. Is anyone else curious how Ricky is still around but Kit is gone??
Avant-Garde, definitely. I love fashion as art, and both the top two looks were pretty amazing.
^^Yeah, I can't believe RICKY is still on! I thought his time had run out like 3 episodes ago.
Christian is a genius. No one works faster and better than he does. He was so cute when he demonstrated his runway walk. He is this season's "star" designer.
Victoria and Jillian's trenchcoat was absolutely amazing. My roommate and I couldn't stop gushing about it. Too, it IS crazy that Ricky is still on. I was mad when they dumped Kevin last week instead of Ricky. Sure, Kevin's prom dress was horrible, but so was Ricky's and Ricky has been consistently horrible.
I missed this episode so I can't wait to catch the rerun.
Although I heard Kit went home and I loooooooooved her.
Seriously, can anyone tell me why Constantly-Crying Ricky is still on PR? Compared to Kit and Kevin (last 2 off) CCR's designs are boring and his finishing is poor. BTW, I didn't like Christian in the beginning of the season but that little guy is slowly creeping into my heart.
The every day looks were pretty thrown-together. But considering how much time they had for the pret-a-porter look, it makes sense.
I loved every single thing about that team Victorya's avant garde look, though.
I like the big beautiful ruffle dress but loved loved loved sweet p's everyday dress.
I WANT THAT COAT! Seriously. Black satin... tartan plaid... trench. It's everything I've ever wanted in a garment. I can't stand Victoria but good g'd damn that coat was fierce.
Speaking of fierce... GO TEAM FIERCE! Christian has been my fave since epi. #1 and he hasn't dissapointed me yet!!
Ricky should have gone and Kit should have stayed. Period. Kit was one of my favorites!
The Avant-Garde pieces were much funner to look at, but I loved Sweet P's everyday dress. And I thought her and Rami's other outfit was really beautiful too, but I understand that it wasn't over the top enough to be considered 'Avant-Garde'.
Christian is such an amazing designer and the most entertaining part of this season's show. Even if he doesn't win, I think he'll ultimately have a wonderful career in fashion. On to the bad: the poor, verging on destitute, little bo peep creation was awful. The fabric choices looked exceedingly cheap, and the construction was poor. And, was it just me, or did Victorya's team's ready-to-wear dress look like a vintage 5-7-9 number?
I thought Christians Avant-Garde was beautiful, he is so creative and always pulls his creations together with a funky feminine touch!
waaaah I wanted to say avant garde but selected ready to wear by accident!!
It's very early in Ireland...
Totally Avant-garde except for Sweet P- where the opposite was the case. I loved Team Fierce's avant garde look the most and Sweet P's RTW look the most. And snotty Rami? Can suck it. And NEITHER in the case of Kit & Ricky. Both were ucky.
i like them both.... i love the jacket .... the one with the black and plaid
The avant-garde was a lot of fun to look at, and it was interesting to see the designers' thought processes behind their designs. I loved Kit and Ricky's avant-garde piece, but apparently it wasn't enough for the judges, though it was still adorable. I was incredibly sad that Kit was auffed. : (
I was super impressed with both Chris and Christian's dress and Victoria and Jillian's outfit - the fact that they were able to complete those looks in just two days, plus the ready-to-wear pieces as well?? Incredible! The craftsmanship on both were fantastic - how is that attention to detail possible in such little time?!?
I would buy Sweet Pea's gray dress in a second though. I want to see that made by somebody so I can take that baby home!! LOVE LOVE LOVE IT!!
