Valentino bid his final adieu to the fashion world at his Spring Couture show in Paris last week. "This environment is no longer stimulating. I certainly won't miss the fashion world. It's ruined! Everybody's doing the same things. What's missing is challenge, creativity, cheerfulness. These days it's all about numbers! To continue working in an environment which says nothing in particular to me would be a bore," he said. I'm sure Val won't be anywhere near bored on his upcoming travels to Brazil, Russia, and Switzerland.

Well, dang... tell us how you really feel.
1Although I do appreciate him voicing that opinion; I'm sure it is really different than when he started. But I think there's still plenty of creativity in the fashion world!
Hmm, biting the hand that feeds him (and he was fed very, very well)?
2Oh, he's being a diva. I still see creativity in the fashion world.
Best wishes, though. He definitely was a creator.
3Ha! I love his b*tchslap to the fashionworld. Good luck to him.
4haha, I love that quote.
5No sympathy here. He's walking away while still an icon. Maybe he just doesn't have any creativity left.
6Well gee Val, don't hold anything back. Is anyone else totally taken aback by his orangeness?
7I love his designs and while he has a right to his own opinion, I do think he statement was a bit rude since this is the industry that made him an icon.
8There is nothing wrong with saying how you really feel. Saying anything else is nothing but a lie.
9Yikes he doesn't mince words!!
10Wow, Valentino. What a diva. Well, his designs are gorgeous but if he doesn't want to be in fashion anymore then dos vadanya.
11He is such an amazing designer.. I wont certainly forget him and I really like his quote.
12While I think there's still creativity in the fashion world, he's also partly right. Nowadays it's all about the trend. He always wanted to create timeless pieces. I'll miss Valentino.
13Holy tan...
14Love his designs and his statements. The fashion world has certainly changed since he began.
15You know, it's funny... I can see why people would think his statement was rude, but I can't help agreeing with him. I was flipping through my last two issues of Harper's Bazaar (Spring Preview & Spring Fashion), and realized that there was not ONE page I wanted to rip out and save as an inspiration. Page after page after page of ugly, trendy, here-one-season-gone-forever sh*t. I looked at each page and thought, "Who but a desperate fashion victim would be seen in public in this stuff???" I think that's what Valentino is realizing as well...
The classic iconic style of Audrey Hepburn, Sophia Loren, Dorothy Dandridge, and Jackie O. is lost on current generations, and the world of fashion is a sadder place for it...
16i can't really blame him for saying it. it's kind of true. i mean, i guess it's a good way to go out right? some people like that, causing drama. and maybe that will spark people. when people get mad, they do stuff about it.
17the bad causes a lot of good.
i agree with him.
IM thee next fashion icon!
