Looks like Todd Oldham, the new Creative Director of Old Navy, has been a busy, busy bee! He's looking to change Old Navy from a family brand to a go-to place for the twenty-something crowd.
Turning a new leaf means a new logo, as well as collections that change more frequently on a monthly basis, like what Zara and H&M do. The first collection, for February, goes for an urban safari look, so expect African-inspired dresses, safari suiting, lace-adorned tank tops, khakis, city shorts, and plenty of red and prints.
Then in March, the focus turns to all brights and whites inspired by Palm Beach. April brings a surf appeal, May, a tropical, Hawaiian point of view, and for June, it's all about glitz and glamour, just in time for the MTV Music Awards.
Officially, Oldham's influence isn't supposed to be noticed until around June, but I, for one, am noticing it already.

How long will it take to notice it in smaller stores, like the outlet in Halifax Nova Scotia? Cuz honestly, right now its nothing but boring, bland clothes.
Sounds great! I love Old Navy for basics like t-shirts and pants for work. It will be nice to see it revamped!
That's funny because I went in there yesterday for some tank tops and I got soooo much stuff. I was thinking how weird it was that I loved just about everything there. I especially love the big clutches with the wooden handles like the pink one in this picture. I had trouble deciding which one to buy but I went with the one with kind of a giraffe print.
Thank the sweet heavens that SOMEONE is taking over Old Navy!! About 10 years ago there were a 'go-to' place for inexpensive basic items like tees and jeans, and even some cute pieces, but over the years the quality has gotten worse and the clothes (even the basics!) lack any style whatsoever. Sometimes I forget that they're part of The Gap and Banana Republic family! Old Navy is like the evil, red-headed step child of the bunch. Glad a change is a-coming!!
How exciting! I agree, it's been very bland the past few years. Can't wait to check it out.
This is great!
That is exciting. I've noticed lately the new logo and look of the website. I always go there for basics like tees etc but maybe now he'll up the quality and I can buy more things. So many of their things are such poor quality—like their cashmere sweaters, which are horrible.
I definitely saw the difference when I went into the Old Navy @ Herald Square yesterday. I was just about to give up on them but things are looking up again.
Hopefully they carry smaller sizes now because everything there is too big for me
Great news! Like emalove, I go to Old Navy for basic tanks, etc., since you can almost always find things super cheap! It would be nice to see some new, updated items.
I am nto a fan of Old Navy. Hopefulyy this will change my judgement of it though...
I just feel their clothes are sooooo boring and plain and not me; and also their clothes NEVER fit me right for some odd reason...
I can never find anything in zero or XS at Old Navy. It's annoying. Little girls needs clothes too!
Old Navy definitely needs help. I'll take Target for cheap clothing over Old Navy any day.
I hope that their merchandise are also of better quality. I don't like Old Navy clothes coz they're actually made of cheap fabric. Most of them are made in my home country whcih they get their textiles and manufactured in warehouses there. The Old Navy left-over items are then sold in outlet stores in our country and priced at 70 to 80 % off their prices here in the US. I once saw a top sold at our home country for $2.50 and the same item sold here in the US for $15.00. Old Navy itmes are made of very cheap materials.
I have never really liked Old Navy. I thought their clothes were ill fitting, plain, and cheap feeling. But now, I might actually have to walk around and take a look.
I really hope this place turns around. I have been always disappointed with the quality of their clothes...
I agree! 10 years ago I shopped for the whole family there, but the past few years it's been crap! I got a gift certificate for my b-day last fall and I haven't been able use it yet. Too bad they are only focusing on the 20 something...it use to be the place I bought all my boys' clothes. Maybe I can use my GC now!
lol - I totally agree with you flizzers! Old Navy just seemed to step it down several notches so I am SO excited that Todd Oldman is taking charge and bringing in some fresh, new patterns and funky, trendier looks. I am SO into animal prints right now, and these pics look fab! I'm going to have scurry my butt over there this weekend FOR SURE!
Exciting! I really hope this works out; I used to buy things there fairly regularly, but in the past couple years I haven't even wanted to buy basic tank tops and stuff there.
I love Old Navy, and I love their new look!
awesome. i've noticed that since i've been on a tighter budget, i'm shopping at places like old navy more and more.
I'm really excited about this... that Safari Suit has my name written all over it. This is wonderful for us Budget Fashionistas!
I love Todd Oldham! I this is a great pairing.
o0o0o im very excited. i have noticed that it is getting nicer and nicer in there. and there are 3 old navys in driving distance so i will check them out for sure ^__^
I hate Old Navy SO much. I think the store is trash and the clothes are cheap quality. It would need a huge change for me to even browse one.
I've never been a fan of Old Navy, but this is something that definitely interests me...very exciting, I can't wait to see what will be available!
excited about this... can't wait to see it in person
yes!!!!!!!!!! i love him, and this looks great
Funny, yesterday I stepped into Old Navy and I ended up buying so much stuff! The Safari collection was so cute and the tab shirt (perfect fit), clutches, tie-dye totes and floaty scarves were perfect for the price.
I especially loved how all of the colors were restrained to what fit the style of the collection...not some random yellow or pink to appeal to the masses. I can't wait to see what the next few months bring!
