Alexander McQueen Fall 2014 Runway Show | Paris Fashion Week

There is always something about Alexander McQueen shows that feels otherworldly and transporting, and Fall 2014 was no exception. With a runway filled with pillowy moss and creeping fog, guests were transported to a woodland wonderland where models with feathered owl eyes and silver cap-toed combat boots reigned supreme. Feathers were a dominant motif in the collection, with hand-cut ones covering coats, gowns, and capes. A peasant dress silhouette allowed necks and clavicles to rise above empire waists and billowing sleeves, while narrow turtlenecks added length to dramatically textured evening gowns. And celestial patterns added to the medieval theme. It's a shame that the show happened two days after the Oscars, because it was hard not to picture stars like Cate Blanchett and Lupita Nyong'o in the dramatic gowns that closed the show. Anyone have a premiere soon?
