The Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty Exhibit Finally Heads to London

The Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty exhibit at the Metropolitan Museum of Art's former Costume Institute that set attendance records and was extended — by both days and opening hours from its debut in May 2010 to its closing in August 2011 — will find a new home four years later.

The retrospective exhibit — which paid homage to the innovative designer, from his early postgraduate collection in 1992 to his final collection, which debuted February 2010, following his death — will arrive at London's Victoria and Albert Museum and run from March 14 to July 19, 2015.

At the time of its closing in New York City, it was reported that the exhibit would likely be headed to London, and some predicted a 2013 launch for the label's 20th anniversary. In fact, back in 2011, the fashion house released a statement after a petition to bring the exhibit to London was mounted: "Alexander McQueen appreciates the huge amount of interest the public has shown towards the Savage Beauty exhibition. We have been in discussion with a number of major venues in London for some time now, however nothing has been finalized. Please be assured that an official announcement will be made the moment we confirm our plans for London."

In honor of the exhibit's revival, we're looking back at McQueen's iconic runway history and some featured designs.
