Introducing Your Most Polished Approach to Everyday Dressing

Looking put together every day is no easy feat, but it's made much simpler with this easy outfit formula.

Looking put together every day is no easy feat, but it's made much simpler with this easy outfit formula. We're taking our classic button-downs and giving them a trend-driven twist with a structured wrap skirt and a pair of block heels. It's not just that it looks good; these pieces are also equipped for comfort. A little wrap skirt will keep you cool (in more ways than one), even when the Summer heat wave strikes, and in case you're not typically the heel-wearing kind, these shoes offer enough support that they just might make you a convert. Of course, it's all about how you add it up — mixing print, a splash or color, or sleek metallics against a staple white shirt or basic black mini — that really makes a complete look click. Soak in the inspiration below, and shop your favorites to channel the same breezy polish that's perfect for day or night.

Met Gala: Carey Mulligan

Carey Mulligan traded her Gatsby-inspired look for a punk-perfect Balenciaga by Alexander Wang LBD at the Met Gala.

Carey Mulligan traded her Gatsby-inspired look for a punk-perfect Balenciaga by Alexander Wang LBD at the Met Gala. A giant gold safety pin added interest and furthered the thematic effect, while cutouts lent a sexier spin. As for the rest, she kept it simple, opting for just a pair of T-strap black pumps and diamond stud earrings. Are you into it?

It's All About Statement Dresses at the Whitney Art Party

The Whitney Museum's annual Art Party in NYC always attracts the crème de la crème of the fashion world — case in point: this style set from last night's festivities.

The Whitney Museum's annual Art Party in NYC always attracts the crème de la crème of the fashion world — case in point: this style set from last night's festivities. Olivia Wilde and Lake Bell coordinated in their green printed dresses, though Olivia's Max Mara number was flowy and Lake opted for something more formfitting. Olivia added a chunky gold-and-black House of Lavande Vintage necklace, Iwona Ludyga drop earrings, and Stuart Weitzman black strappy sandals, while Lake carried a simple black clutch and wore black slingback booties. Jourdan Dunn took a different approach entirely, stepping out in a fashion-forward white Alexander Wang dress from the designer's Spring 2013 line and matching white platform pumps. All three ladies went with statement dresses, but which one gets your vote?

In an image released Tuesday from Balenciaga's Fall 2013 campaign — the first since Alexander Wang took over as the house's creative director — a black-clad Kristen McMenamy is seen peeking out of an all-black room, with her left hand gripping the doorknob.

Wang told WWD that the campaign, shot by Steven Klein, is meant to be a "very cinematic portrayal" of his Fall 2013 debut for the house. He added that there's "lots of emotion, in contrast to the austerity bestowed in the show."

Whether McMenamy's face will appear in other images from the campaign will have to wait until June, when the campaign begins appearing in magazines. A full look at the first shot, here in the gallery.

21 Red-Hot Sandals For Instant Outfit Gratification (Thank Us Later)

Our latest shoe — rather, shoe color — obsession may not exactly fall into this season's lighter, brighter palette, but it certainly does make a serious case for red's unequivocal statement-making power.

Our latest shoe — rather, shoe color — obsession may not exactly fall into this season's lighter, brighter palette, but it certainly does make a serious case for red's unequivocal statement-making power. It boils down to this: we love the idea of sticking to the outfit basics (we're talking white tee and denim cutoffs here). So, when one accessory can do all the work, that's kind of like styling nirvana — herein lies the appeal of a great red sandal.

Whether the shoe be flat-soled and adorned with the bare two-strap minimum or come complete with a chunky platform and sexier lace-up details, the idea is to turn heads with one fell swoop of standout red and a cool silhouette to match. And let us remind you that these sandals were made to be worn for day and night. So, if this weekend's brunch calls for a red-hot pick-me-up, then look no further than our picks — at every heel height and price point — below.
