Shoulder love has been going around for some time now. With each new season, the trend becomes bolder and bigger. Ashley Olsen recently spoke about it, saying: ". . . I think the extreme shoulder, to me — it takes a very special person to pull it off. And I’m kind of ready to move on from that." Clearly, Lady Gaga and Rihanna don't agree. And Balmain's Christophe Decarnin just created another set of bold shouldered pieces for Fall 2010. Are you with Ashley, and over the extreme shoulder?

LOVE the dramatic shoulder!!! The only thing is, you can not be 5"2 and pull this look off. I believe this is reason for Ashley's hatred.
1Umm, no one in the real world, outside of new york or l.a. can pull this off. it looks ridiculous on normal people walking down the street!
2I agree, kayla, no regular person could pull this off.
3I think that they look okay on the red carpet and runways, but I really dislike them because there's no possible way for a regular person to pull them off without 1) looking like they're trying way, way too hard or 2) just looking plain ridiculous.
4The ones in the picture are extreme, but I like the "strong shoulder" blazers. A little shoulder peak/puff is cute.
5i dont hate it but i dont love it either. it's a hate-love relationship with those shoulders. i mean, we've been seeing Balmain's padded shoulder since 3 runways?! god the trend is no longer exist. its stagnant
6Loved it when Balmain did it. But now it's gotten old. Let Lady Gaga and Rhianna wear it.
7I have always hated the "extreme" shoulder trend, especially anything with shoulder pads, but I love a little structured shoulder or a slighly poofy sleeve. I think it's just about moderation - no trend looks good if overdone (like all three of those looks - they are all ridiculous); if done right, I don't think it matters if you're short...
