Looking at the top half of Ashley Olsen's NYC outfit, it appears she may be attending an important business meeting. But the bottom half tells a whole different story. In her black leggings and Nike sneakers, Ashley could very well be going for a run. Frankly, I'm not surprised that Ashley decided to create her own version of sporty chic. Leave it to the always-experimental mogul to dabble with running sneakers. But does her attempt work? Does she pull it off or does she look silly?
Londoners do this all the time; it's really more necessity than a fashion statement. Pumps are kept in the big bag until arriving at the destination. She gets points from me for choosing black Nikes over white, however.
How do you do a love it or hate on something that was done for comfort and practicality, not fashion?
I agree with Misskacie. I live in Portland and its snowing. I wear rain boots on my way to wear because I take the bus and change my shoes when I get there. She wore sneakers when she went to NYU as well. There is no mystery here as to what is going on.
I agree, she's not trying to make a huge statment. But I'm not a fan of sneakers anyway.
Maybe she's trying out 'practicality' as a new trend?
She gets points from me too! On days I know there will be lots of walking during the commute/errands/etc. I opt for sneakers.
I'm confused as to why so many people say they hate this. First, I think she still looks really cute. Second, I agree with everyone posting that it's so much more practical than walking NYC streets in heels!
Oh God... bad bad bad! I don't see anything wrong with dressing for comfort (I never wear heels, save for a few special occasions), but if she wanted to dress for comfort, why not wear some cute flats? I'm surprised that she of all people would be caught wearing running sneakers with an outfit like this... actually I think I would be the most shocked if I saw Victoria Beckham in this outfit (haha)
maybe it would look better with converses? But still, it looks as if its for practicality and not fashion....
I love it. It makes her seem - human? If more celebs dressed for comfort it would become the trend and we would feel more okay with it.
I am on the undecided the look isn't that bad, but she should not have worn that bag. She should have worn a cross body bag or messanger bag.
Those totally do not look like Nikes to me....
all for comfort, all for sneakers, but the outfit as a whole is not too cute. you don't have to wear running shoes with a business suit. what about flat riding boots? or ballet flats? Or Crocs has a new line called You with really comfy wedges, boots, shorter heels that actually look like normal shoes (not those icky gardening clogs they are famous for).
She must be going for comfort rather then style b.cuz she looks like the ladies who wear sneaks on the subway and then throw heels on at work.
Ballet flats are very cold to wear in the winter. Unless your pants are baggy, they expose the entire top half of your feet.
Ewww
I picked undecided, too, but mostly because I feel "meh" about it. There's nothing special about it, she just wanted to be comfortable.
i don't understand people that walk around with a running shoes i mean isn't it clear from the name that they are used just for running!they are really ugly!
I look cute in my boots and coat, so I don't think weather is an excuse to look this bad.
I voted hate it, not b/c she's wearing sneakers, but the kind of sneaker. If my friend were wearing them, I would tell her I hated them too. There are so many great options when it comes to sneakers. I agree with the above poster - a pair of converse would have been really cute. Just my opinion
well she looks better than her umbrella holder in uggs
I'm not opposed to dressing in comfortable clothes, but this girl ALWAYS looks like a hot mess, and so does her sister. They ALWAYSSS dress like homeless people and ironically they think they have a fashion sense??? since when?!
Let's face it. She looks way better than most people I see walking down the street in tennis shoes...
Stop hating on the Olsen twins!
OMG EW. she could wear something else if she wanted to switch the shows later...
i agree with chicsugar. it's the type of sneaker. it looks so clunky. she could've worn a sleek pair of black sneakers or worn converses or she could've ditched sneakers in general. there's a whole list of comfortable shoes that exist
What's with the white socks? Ewwww.
I generally am not a fan of wearing any sort of athletic shoe unless I am wearing my workout clothes. If I need to rock a sneaker with my everyday clothes, I'll wear my Chucks.
well I loved it
I agree that she is likely only wearing the sneakers until she gets to her meeting, at which point she will change into heels or more appropriate shoes. But I wouldn't be surprised if she kept the Nikes on... if shes anything at all like her sister, she'll try to rock the eccentric millionaire homeless woman look.
gives the rest of us lee way to wear comfortable shoes...hehe x
