Banana Republic is no stranger to using real-life artists in its ad campaigns. For Fall, the retailer has recruited a crop of young Hollywood actresses: Nicole Fiscella, Lauren Ambrose, Krysten Ritter, and Florence Faivre. Not pictured but also part of the campaign are actors Chris Messina, Scott Speedman, and Juan Diego Botto. The focus is on the white shirt, chinos, suits, denim, and trench coats. But print isn't the only place you'll be seeing this group. "The actors were chosen originally because we wanted to authentically capture a campaign grounded in film," said Simon Kneen, creative director and executive vice president of Banana Republic. Cool. What do you think of the cool cast?
Gap did this a while ago but with bigger names....I guess I wouldn't of known they were actors until this article...but I love the white shirts!
1i like that they are using lesser known celebrities.
2Mmm Scott Speedman ... makes me want to watch "Felicity" again
3I like. It's good that they are using actors that aren't in the media a lot for exposure. Simple and cool.
4WTF!
5on the one hand; this has been done so often by Gap and other brands that's it a little annoying. plus I hate that actors get modeling gigs so often - then what is the point of models?
6on the other hand, however, I also love that they used lesser known actors, especially two whom I really like - Krysten Ritter and Nicole Fiscella (Isabel from Gossip Girl! - she's also a model; I've seen her in catalogs including Alloy). and the clean, fresh, (and always in fashion) white shirts with them smiling and laughing is just nice to look at...
nicole fiscella is gorgeous!
7This ad makes me really angry. I want to call the creative director and ask him wtf he was thinking when he used an image that was out of focus. The image is not shown here but I saw the entire campaign in the latest issue of Vogue.
