Two of our favorite worlds are teaming up for the holiday season — Barneys and Disney! While last year's antics were all about Lady Gaga, the high-end retailer is teaming up with the happiest place on earth for the ultimate high-fashion cartoon affair called, "Electric Holiday." Come Nov. 14, expect to see a three-dimensional electric light show (at the Barneys Madison Avenue flagship store) inspired by Disney's famous electric parade and a short film featuring Disney characters like Minnie Mouse, Daisy Duck, Cruella de Vil, and Snow White turned into 5'11" supermodels "dressed" in designer duds from the likes of Balenciaga, Lanvin, and Nina Ricci. "The world of the Paris fashion shows, of fashion, of people in fashion, of the rituals, all of the idiosyncrasies," said Barneys's creative director, Dennis Freedman. "The important thing to me was always that it had to be authentic. It really had to hit the nail on the head in every detail." In fact, the team went as far as hiring a model to walk the halls at Disney to ensure every movement in the film was accurate.
Barneys will also be selling limited-edition holiday items including Vinylmation figures designed by Paul Smith and Diane von Furstenberg, and Mickey Mouse ears from Rag & Bone and L'Wren Scott in addition to toys, sweets, and ornaments available at select Barneys stores and online.
