Beau Soleil Pouch: Love It or Hate It?

I'm all about recycling and saving the planet but do you think the trend has churned it's way into becoming a profit-making machine? Take for instance, this Beau Soleil Canvas Pouch ($18). The description doesn't mention anything about it being green and though it's not expensive, do you think it's a sham?

hello - reducing would mean to stop buying so many material things. if we all came together and NOT bought that stupid bag, we'd save so much energy and waste gone into making that literal potato sack with words on it.

Beau Soleil is actually a pretty well established member of the eco fashion community, with 3 seasons of fabulous dresses made out of bamboo and sustainable fabric. "Reduce Recycle Renew" is their motto, and while I personally wouldn't carry it around, I totally understand why they chose to offer affordable bags with their motto (their dresses run a couple hundred .)Not be be negative, but I'm a little disappointed that Fab Sugar didn't even do a quick Google for the company before knocking them down.

If you actually want to help out and promote a green lifestyle check out the FEED bags that Whole Foods is offering right now. Basically the same look but profits go to help feed people in africa. P.s. does anyone throw out their clutches on a regular basis? how is this promoting a green lifestyle at all?

totally TsuKata. going green is trendy and a lot of companies are trying to make a buck (or $18). the pouch is ugly to boot.

its aggravating seeing companies exploit the dangers we are facing in our environment.i realize that being green is trendy right now, and i think that it is a good thing more people are becoming aware of ways to reduce waste, but buying something like this seems more "hip" than helpful....that being said, i would like the bag if it didn't have the print, or if it said something else.

This bugs me in the same way that "BABY ON BOARD" signs do, its like being told what to do in some way...even if I might agree with the idea, something about it being in my face just makes me want to react against it. And I agree with the above, with no mention of green credentials, and really serving no new purpose in and of itself, it strikes me as a pretentious little waste of cash!

I'm with you, silly. The racks of cloth bags at my local grocery chain really get to me. We all have a ton of totebags at home, as well as backpacks and suitcases. Being green would be to use one of those for your groceries, not to buy $10 worth of new bags just for grocery shopping.

I think it'd be cool if it was made of recycled materials... but otherwise, it's just a "buy this because it's in style to say that you recycle" load of crap.

I think products that promote recycling or an environmental ethic are weirdly hypocritical, like the "I'm not a Plastic Bag" craze. They encourage us to consume whiel promoting just the opposite.
