Best of 2008: Favorite New Trend

It's hard keeping up with trends; nevertheless, it's an obsession of mine. While I bring you daily trend alerts, there were several trends that kept our attention throughout the year. Some tempered volume — shoulder love and the new crop of pants — these trends are for the more daring fashion darling. Meanwhile, the It bag gave way to the It shoe. Designers showcased over-the-top shoes on the Spring and Fall runways — to many a model's demise. We bought more clutches this year than ever before (oops). Countless celebrities shined thanks to statement necklaces and florals bloomed like crazy. We know which trend we hope lives on, what about you?

Shoes, shoes and more shoes. As well as the clutch - so ladylike.

Love the sleeves and the heels, however unlikely I am to actually wear them!

Totally become a clutch collector, with statement necklaces a close second. I've really begun to appreciate the fab vintage and artisan stuff that I've bought over the years but never worn.

None of these trends are that great, but I shoes are the love(s) of my life, so I'll go with them. Those cropped pants look unflattering and the floral in that picture looks like an (ugly) curtain.

I voted clutches, because I really bought some because of this trend, and I hate maxi bags. I think they are too unfeminine. I loved the over-the-top shoes and shoulders thing, but I haven't tried yet.

Love the shoes, clutches, and the shoulders (when done right, I think it looks so glam)... I just don't understand the pants... I haven't yet seen a person in real life (and mag. life for the most part) that looks good in them?

The clutch. I've loved clutches for a long time and was very happy when they became more popular (more styles to choose from). Anyway, the necklaces are gab too.
