Welcome to the Hall of Fame: 10 Met Gala Vets and Their Best Looks

Not all Met Gala red carpet appearances are created equal, and the style-setting veterans that make their way up those iconic museum stairs in stunning couture gowns year after year have certainly left an impression. Clearly, we can't get enough. We're talking specifically about an elite group of women who have entered into a veritable Met Gala "hall of fame" by virtue of their consistent on-point dressing. Whether your mind goes first to Gwyneth Paltrow's blue Gucci snakeskin dress in 1999, conjures up images of a very Carrie Bradshaw-esque Sarah Jessica Parker in Halston, remembers Blake Lively and Karl Lagerfeld arm in arm in 2011, or jumps right to Beyoncé's flame-embroidered custom Givenchy gown from last year's festivities, you'd be right to assume that these A-listers are among the best dressed (and most memorable) in Met Gala history. Welcome to our official Met Gala Hall of Fame — click on to see who has been inducted.

Gisele Bündchen

Gisele Bündchen is a serious Met Gala veteran, having made the walk up those iconic red-carpeted museum stairs eight times by our count. The Brazilian supermodel has played the part of sexy vixen — hello, leather fringed Alexander Wang mini! — as well as the part of stunning bombshell in Versace cutouts.

Blake Lively

We've come to expect nothing less than bombshell status when Blake Lively hits the Met Gala red carpet. Over the years, she has enlisted the "services" of Ralph Lauren, Marchesa, and Chanel to make a stunning entrance.

Diane Kruger

Whether it's the Cannes Film Festival or the Met Gala (and in this case, it's definitely the latter), Diane Kruger is proof that serious Old Hollywood glamour is alive and well. She can work a thigh-high slit with ease, she can make a purple feather gown train seem like the easiest thing to walk in, and when sheer black lace Chanel Haute Couture is thrown into the mix, you know she's game.

Christina Ricci

Christina Ricci

A veteran of the Met Gala red carpet means being totally comfortable going the couture distance. This description most aptly fits Christina Ricci, who, for all intents and purposes, leaves it all out on the red carpet. Petite frame aside, the brunette actress can pull off even the most dramatic of looks, including one goth-inspired fishtail look that sticks with us still.

Ashley Olsen

Ashley Olsen — the more classic style setter of the twins — is a veritable Met Gala chameleon. From high-fashion ruffles to a beachy white maxi dress to a vintage orange caftan-like gown, this Olsen will surprise you year after year.

Jessica Biel

Jessica Biel

Jessica Biel has done it all on the Met Gala red carpet — red-hot vixen, slinky-silhouetted goddess, and ladylike dresser. But her latest take on couture, which included macramé pants and a nose ring, is by far the most risky . . . and rewarding.

Kate Bosworth

Kate Bosworth

Kate Bosworth is the ultimate cool girl, and her consistent play on leggy looks on the Met Gala red carpet falls right in line with this styling ethos. Unlike the status quo of longer floor-length gowns, Bosworth never fails to stun in shorter hemlines, crafted with eye-catching embellishments and add-ons.

Gwyneth Paltrow

Gwyneth Paltrow

Whether Gwyneth Paltrow goes for a skin-baring look courtesy of Prada, or does an exotic take via Gucci snakeskin, she understands that Met Gala moments are made by making a red carpet statement. Her latest choice — a hot-pink Valentino gown — just adds to our conviction that she deserves her place in the hall of fame.

As a brunette, Gwyneth Paltrow went with something a little outside of her usual style picks, wearing a blue Gucci snakeskin dress in 1999.

Gwyneth Paltrow proved that covered up doesn't always mean boring. Her sexy leg-slit-infused Stella McCartney gown in 2011 is still one of our favorite Met Gala moments.

Sarah Jessica Parker

Sarah Jessica Parker

We can always count on Sarah Jessica Parker for pure glamour at the Met Gala. She, unlike some, is willing to take a risk, dive right into the exhibit theme, and work even the most couture of looks. From deconstructed Alexander McQueen to accordion-pleated Halston, SJP is the master of her Met Gala domain.

We call this Sarah Jessica Parker look a bona fide "Carrie Bradshaw moment" at the Met Gala. The shimmery pleats on her Halston gown and that statement flower in her hair were the perfect red carpet combination in 2010.

It would only be appropriate that Sarah Jessica Parker wear Valentino when the designer is her dashing date, as was the case in 2012.

Beyoncé

Beyoncé

Every year that Beyoncé attends the Met Gala is a year that we are privy to at least one guaranteed drop-dead gorgeous gown. Her penchant for curve-enhancing, floor-length custom creations has suited her well, and this year's flame-embroidered Givenchy Haute Couture look is proof.

Beyoncé went the custom Givenchy Haute Couture route last year, and as honorary chair of the festivities, it seemed appropriate that she would light up the red carpet in (figurative) flames.
