One of the hottest nail colors for Fall is going to be Black! I seriously about fell off my chair when I read this. To me Black Nail Polish was reserved for those going for the goth look in high school. Apparently not any more. A lot of celebs, including Mischa Barton, Lindsay Lohan, Jessica Alba and MK have been sporting it for the last year or so and The Limited Edition Chanel Black Satin nail polish is sold out everywhere! In fact the only place I found to buy it online is eBay. A recent auction for one bottle of the color went for $47.02!. Click here to participate in the latest ebay auction.

So what do you guys think, Black Nail Polish, Love it or Hate it? If you love it, you can buy it here
Glamour magazine offers some tips on how to wear it right, so read more
Tips For Making Black Nail Polish Glam not Goth from Glamour Magazine:
i dont hate it, but its defintely not for everyone, i prefer a deep red if you're going that whole dark and badass route.
1I think it looks good. Not a big fan of nailpolich but if you gonna have it ,black is more fun.
2I'm with lamb - I'd rather a vampy dark red than black. Black is to reminiscent of the goth look, which is def not me.
3Not really my personal style, but it definitely works for some people. Oh gawd, remember when Carson Daly always had black nails? How creepy was that?! (and how creepy looking is he now...talk about manorexic!)
4I wore black nail polish way before it was trendy...and, not nec. as a "goth" look. I'm talking years ago. Who new it would be all the rage? Speaking of...I'm sporting it now.
And, Baby Lisa--wow, I almost forgot about nail polish for men! haha....Hard Candy even had a whole line of men's nail polish with black and blue colors, etc. That really was an odd trend. Carson made it even weirder because he'd paint only a couple of his nails at a time.
5OMG, yes!! I almost mentioned that too!! How random was that?!! Looked like he was working as a colorist on the side and forgot to put on gloves! haha!!
6i think it looks good, and that pic of mischa i think she is stunning.. chocolate coloured polish is in over here to.
7Ugh, I don't care how "in" black nailpolish is, I think it's horribly tacky. It's not flattering to anyone. IMO, it makes you look cheap.
8omg, i thought of Carson too! but notice that all the people who are wearing black polish are in their late teens/very early 20's so it's not for everyone!
i'm only 24 and i think it's slightly gross. It reminds me of all the goth kids in high school and now it just makes me think of all the stupid Emo bands that sport black polish.
my vote: Hate it. (sorry to be so harsh!)
9i love my candy apple/ fire engine RED.. i also recently got some in st. maarten that changes color from clear to pink in the sunshine!!!
10oh and if you wear black nailpolish for too long it stains your nails yellow... i forgot to mention that
11love it, but on short nails only
12i love it especially with really chic dresses!
13Where did I just read the quick fix for yellowing nails from wearing dark nail polish too often...was it here? Anyway, the secret is Crest White Strips. Yep, plaster those babies on your nails and all yellow is erased. Cool, huh? So have at those dark polishes. I won't do black but the deep chocolate browns and super deep burgundy look killah!
14i love dark nails...i sported intensely deep raspberry over christmas...looks amazing!
15I like it only on short nails as well, Ethiopian Princess.
I remember about 10 years ago there was another Chanel color named "Vamp" that was all the rage. I still love that color, esp. on my toes, during the winter only though. "Vamp" was a very deep, dark purple color.
16black nailpolish scares me...
17Black polish is a little too goth(ish) for my taste
18I'm nt a black lady, I don't like black, I find it unoriginal.Black for basic things only. There's atleast 3 of my friends already sporting the black nails since a while. I prefer a dark red, a dark purple, a dark blue or dark brown. I don't fallow "nails trends"
So My vote is Hate (for me) and Okay (on others)
19On me, I prefer a really dark, deep red, but I like the way Mischa's black nails reflect off a blueish color in light.
20i generally do nudes/naturals, but i really love the classic reds and the deep purples (lincoln park after dark).
21Nah Im a pink girl all the way
22Me too, tox. Pinks and corals....
23I like it as long as:
24(A) Nails are short
(B) No chips! Chipped nail polish looks trashy.
riotgeek, my nails are trashy then. very very trashy. i'm too lazy to use my nail polish remover.
25Lizbowman - I remember Vamp! I really liked that color and had totally forgotten it. I wonder if they still make it.
26It's overdone in young Hollywood. I like mauve or dark brown better.
27They do still make it! Ah, thank you Liz Bowman. I needed ONE MORE THING TO BUY.
28No me gusta. Not at all. Not only do I find the black nail polish un-ladylike, but the propensity for mishaps is too high. Chips, scrapes, uneven color--boo on black nail polish.
29OPI has some really awesome DARK colors without being black, Lincoln Park After Dark, Vampire State Building...I would only do black on my toes...maybe...
My sister did black in October last year, we went to one of those nail places where they can airbrush the design, and she had a little white skull and crossbones on each big toe, it was really cute! She is a 22 year old cutie though, a 32 year old mom couldn't get away with that!
30eh if you can pull it off without looking gothic, it looks alright. I use deep reds on myself, always.
31i don't wear nail polish.
32well, i don't wear colored nail polish.
33Love the darks but not the black, I agree with caligirl. Dark browns, dark mauves & reds are way cooler.
34black nail polish somehow has very negative connotations for me. whenever i see black nail polish, i think of lindsay lohan. but mischa barton looks classy in it.

Don't tick me off. Or you'll get it.
Mischa looks so beautiful in that pic!
36I love black nail polish! i recently bought some and i think it looks great. i'm really excited that it's going to be big this fall!
37I have some and I love it! I have wanted to wear black polish for a long time, but I feared I would look gothic and I'm not at all that way. Anyway, so I'm glad it's FINALLY trendy!
38I do like black nail polish. Have some myself. Funny thing though, I was visiting in San Diego a few weekends ago and my friends aunt 40ish was wearing it. I don't know, but maybe I am being ageism or whatever that term is but I think that being 40 with 2 kids really doesn't fit with that whole black nail polish thing. It looks like she is trying too hard. My friends at school have come to class with it and I think it looks good.
39I don't wear it. It looks good on a few people though.
I think that the deep plums and wines look far better, if you are considering a dark polish.
40I love black nailpolish, I used to wear it in high school!!! I'm happy that it's back in now. I had started to wear chocolate brown in the spring then gve it a break for summer, but I think I'll start wearing it again, too.
41Funny that this post is still getting so much buzz! Came back here to look at the color names bc I'm thinking of getting a vampy mani today after work! I love the dark trend, and in fact, I tried to do it myself this weekend with some old, cheap stuff left over from my goth years- didn't look the hottest, decided a professional would do better!
42I do love it!
43Looks good on her, but I don't think I would wear it
44I don't care for it!
45I did when I was younger-but not now.
46Only in short nails.
47Um...hmm...I used to wear this in high-school but not as the emo/goth/metal kind of girl. I just loved the way it looked with some outfits such as grey/beige/brown or just matching some black lingerie (my boyfriend got all excited over that once) but now I don't think I would, just not worth it
48Black nail polish isn't worn until Halloween.. sorry!
49Black, or a variation of it can be VERY classy if worn correctly. The ad listed above is a great example - glossy and fresh, and with a hint of blue that accents the pretty blue eye liner the model is wearing. Picking up a trace of blue in her outfit is another great tie (though you can't tell in this picture). Thankfully, black isn't just black anymore. As one respondent noted above, there are many blacks with hints of red, blue, gold and silver sparkles mixed in, setting off an intrigueing light-catching effect in brighter lights.
50It's not just for goths or Halloween anymore!
But, black on long nails or really short nails can stand out and doesn't really work. Black on toes does work if wearing shoes that compliment it. Sandals on the beach is probably not the right look.
And, chipped black, like other nail colors when they become worn, is just not a great look. It screams that this person is in need of some maintenance!
How about guys wearing black? It does work in some cases. Like when wearing a black tux to a really posh party. I saw a guy sporting black toenails (with a hint of silver) at a very posh pool party. He was wearing dark grey sandals and his feet were very tanned. Nice look!
