Exclusive: The Story Behind Blake Lively's Epic Age of Adaline Costumes

Mark your calendars — Blake Lively is back to the big screen April 24 for her starring role in The Age of Adaline, the miraculous story of a 29-year-old woman who, after a car accident, never ages again. More magical than the premise might just be the work of costume designer Angus Strathie, who developed Blake's wardrobe from the 1930s through present day, giving Adaline a look Serena van der Woodsen would envy.

It's no easy task creating costumes for the same character that span nearly a century, but Strathie worked to incorporate both contemporary and vintage pieces to give Adaline an authentic wardrobe that feels both glamorous and true to who she is. In some cases, that meant finding a piece that Adaline could wear both in the 1940s and later in 2015. Watch here to see just how he did it.
