Since this week is an extended holiday weekend, I thought it would be nice to celebrate the holiday by focusing on colors of the harvest. Today, as part of my series of Color Theory posts, we're going to look at welcoming, sensual brown.
Su Casa member Kimpossible finally got around to updating her kitchen, or at least starting the process, after three years on the back burner. She began with the easiest, and often the most effective change, paint! As you can see, her wallpaper was dated and really didn't do much for the room. So, a warm coat of chocolate brown paint came to the rescue, and made a drastic difference. She also added some counter stools to match, a shelf for spices, and a window valance. A sandstorm hit the Golden Globes red carpet and now it's attacked neonbee. What I'd like to point out here is that beige hearts brown. Beige, being a neutral color, needs a rich hue like brown to plush it up. And I love how she belted her wrap cardigan for added interest. Smart thinking!

Donna Karan's Fall collection is the epitome of Autumn. Warm browns, vivid rust, olive green, terra cotta, mustard, and burgundy were the plush colors the designer used to spice up her line. Now is the perfect time to draw inspiration from it and fill our closets with similar pieces. You can even get inspired from the changing colors of the leaves outside. Stick to one or two colors at most. I've found that gray tights are the perfect accent to any autumnal color. If you're still frazzled, study the Fall collections, see my suggestions below, and be full of Fall.
I don't have a lot of brown in my closet, so it impresses me when someone pulls the color off right. Jezrel chose head-to-toe brown for a tea party she recently attended. Say, doesn't she look as sweet as brown sugar? What really solidifies the look is her generous use of gold accessories. Brown and gold: a match made in fashion heaven.

The Lucky Magazine party brought out a lot of stylish actresses, including Gabrielle Union, clad in a rich sequined Foley + Corinna dress (the soiree was dually for the launch of the label's resort collection). The chocolate brown and the fun sequin pattern really flatters her flawless skin. What a cutie!
