Carolina Herrera provided springtime ease for the ladylike set with her Spring 2012 runway show. While her daytime separates were perfectly lovely, our eyes were focused on her evening wear. There was a deco motif to her gowns via geometric prints and beading, and a lovely emerald hue that we expect to see on the red carpet soon enough. Our full review to come soon, but in the meantime, check out the Spring collection, and for an extra dose of fun, see all the dresses in their flowy glory in our Carolina Herrera runway video.
>> Carolina Herrera's Spring 2012 collection, full of sparrow prints and linear motifs, “started with the Bauhaus,” she said, citing “the modernity of lines and the fluidity.” As Nicki Minaj and Anna Wintour sat next to each other front row, Herrera sent out fluid mint green dresses and architectural embroideries. The color palette — largely jade green, rusty red, and sunny yellow — came from the Bakelite bangles that were used to accessorize the collection, she said.
Olivia Munn showed off a classic black and white evening look, with a few subtle twists at the Our Idiot Brother premiere. We love the elegant palette, especially when it's outfitted with a few pops of color, like Olivia's brilliant orange jewels. As for the finishing touches, Olivia adds just patent nude pumps and a soft, shimmering clutch to complement her Carolina Herrera dress. Feeling inspired? Renée Zellweger goes bare at the Met Gala in a sheer Carolina Herrera gown covered in delicate gold beading and enhanced with large jeweled appliques under the bust. With such a glitzy dress, it's unsurprising that Renée chose to keep her hair and makeup low key, opting for a low bun and natural-looking coral pink lipstick and blush. It's a nice combination, but do you think it's the right look for the Met?

>> Designers are well-represented at the Academy Awards when it comes to gowns, but a few made the pilgrimage to Los Angeles themselves to have their own Oscars red carpet moment. Georgina Chapman, Valentino Garavani, and Tara Subkoff made an awards appearance, while Diane von Furstenberg, Carolina Herrera, Jason Wu, Tom Ford and the like hobnobbed later at Vanity Fair's after party.

Her dresses are just the epitome of flattering. She takes the time, and she spends the money, and she makes just the prettiest clothes, no? And since I must generally content myself with worshipping from afar, I am always happy to work in even the faintest Herrera gesture wherever I can. SO: It's CND Dark Ruby for me today, on short, square nails.
