Carolina Herrera's Bridal Toppers: Love It or Hate It?

No doubt Carolina Herrera makes some desirable wedding gowns. She just showed her Spring 2010 collection and, while gorgeous gowns glided down the runway, I was distracted by the bridal toppers. It's a fun runway idea, but in real life, not so much. Maybe if it weren't with a traditional white gown. White bikini and fedora? Now that makes sense. What do you think, if you were engaged, would you ever consider wearing a hat on your big day?

These designs are a reference to previous wars during 1900s and the designer is trying to make a 'fashion' statement. All throughout history after every war/economic crises the dresses were designed with less expensive fabrics and a lot less fabric used. It is each designer's job to come up with something fresh to bring in the market. I agree that these dresses somehow failed as designs, but on the other hand I am not surprised.

junie12- that sounds really like an interesting way to design clothes. I hate the hats in real life though, but love the idea on the runway. I love the middle bouquet. I want that bouquet when I get married.

the hats are actually part of the inspiration of each dress... each one is named after an artist and the dress is inspired by their work- the model wearing vincent van gogh is holding sunflowers like his still lifes, renoir is wearing the boating hats like he painted in many of his works, seurat's dress is made of dots like his paintings, goya and velasquez are both wearing spanish veils... it's really quite funny!

nothing is over-the-top or too much when it comes to runway. I think they are the exact right amount of funky to make a bridal gown collection not boring - and the outfits are fabulous. I would probably not wear any of those, but I might consider wearing a hat on my day. I love hats...

I wouldn't wear them, no way. But that first dress is making me want to get married. I think that's my dream dress!

on the runway, fine, but if i saw this in a wedding i'd die my mom wore a hat and maintains how "cool" it was at the time....i don't need anything that will date my dress that much!
