We've come to expect sophisticated, glamorous gowns whenever Cate Blanchett steps out onto a red carpet [1], but sexy? Not really. You're more likely to see the star in a cerebral, envelope-pushing silhouette than a mini (do you remember this pink Balenciaga [2]?).
That's why we were surprised to see her Michael Kors Spring 2014 number at yesterday's AACTA Awards in Los Angeles. Sure, it was still a respectable floor sweeper, but the sheer fabric gathered at the bust was more revealing than her typical choice. It was sultry from the back, too, with an elongated keyhole cutout that flashed some skin (and let us all know that a regular bra was an impossibility).
