Cheap & Chic: Black High-Waisted Shorts
While Miranda Kerr took her high-waisted black shorts on a tropical vacation, Lauren Conrad wore hers out on the town with an Alexander Wang top. It goes to show how versatile high-waisted black shorts are. They can weather extreme heat and go party hopping with you, too!
As exemplified by both Miranda and Lauren, you should tuck your top into your shorts, to show off the high waist. Just make sure your top is not too frilly or loud; the high-waist style is already a tad trendy on its own.

I would love to invest in a pair of black high waisted shorts! I'm very petite though I don't know how it would look proportion wise. I'll have to hit the dressing rooms at mall
1This is a fashion DO for me. I believe in order to pull off these type of shorts, you'll have to have a somewhat defined waist.

6Almost famous- I agree! I'm a size 8 and there is NO way I would even try this on a dressing room! Of course, that's what I said about skinny jeans, and I'm super tall, so they still worked on me. Still, here....you would need to be very small or have a very defined waist.

7Yeah, Snowbunny11 I've seen Beyonce were these type of shorts and it looks horrible on her. she has a short torso so the shorts look like the meet her breast...even in a push up bra..lol

9But isn't it all about proportion almost famous...if you have a shorter torso or are petite (like me) you can wear a medium rise. It will have the appearance of a high waist without hitting you in the boobs. I do that for all the styles I like but people say I can't wear.

13I bought a pair of high waisted black shorts last spring. I'm so ahead! JK! I love them, but I agree, on bigger people they don't look as good. I'm 5'3 and 100lbs so I'm pretty small and high waisted shorts make me look taller.

16i have no idea if i'd look good in them. i'm thin w/a tiny waist BUT i also have hips and a butt. i'm afraid i might look too hippy in these shorts or that i'll get a gap in the back of the shorts. i guess i'll try a pair this weekend
