Christian Siriano Resort 2014: What's Old Is New Again

For Christian Siriano's first-ever resort collection, the designer welcomed editors to a preview inside his New York City apartment. He was quite literally in his comfort zone — with models standing among the antiques in his expertly decorated den, kitchen, and bedroom — but although his roundup of vivid gowns in sculptural silhouettes and bold color combinations (fuchsia and brighter-than-the-sun yellow, for one) is classically Christian, he still strayed into new territory.

Case in point: an abundance in sportswear, including the coated raffia biker jacket, which Siriano told us was one of his favorites. Other notable pieces included a floor-length black feathered chevron skirt, striking zigzag t-strap heels from his ongoing Payless collaboration, and graphic prints that were inspired by modern abstract artists Nicholas Wilton and Kristy Gammill. Said Siriano, "These artists' works, though modern, have vintage quality, which helped to inspire some of the looks that recall the 1960s."
