DVF Fall 2014 Runway Show | New York Fashion Week

DVF's Olympic Team of Models Goes For Gold

DVF's Olympic Team of Models Goes For Gold

If fashion were an Olympic sport, we'd have no trouble pulling together a team of runway models for the Sochi Winter games — with a starting lineup of Karlie Kloss, Jourdan Dunn, Karen Elson, and Joan Smalls. And that's just what Diane von Furstenberg did for her rock concert of a runway show, which also served as the 40th anniversary celebration of her famed wrap dress.

Naturally, the Fall 2014 collection had plenty of wraps, including several ballerina sweaters from which the idea was actually born, and the requisite playful prints that will soon be on every woman's wish list, from half-moons to ocean waves to gold stars. What earned Von Furstenberg a few extra points this time were her toppers, namely a black-and-white jacquard coat and a multicolor fur cocoon statement-maker.

But that's just when the game got good. After the last official look returned backstage, all the models walked out for a surprise finale in an unofficial party uniform of gold wrap dress after sexy gold wrap dress before taking the stage to dance with the band St. Vincent as glittering confetti fell from the ceiling and the designer herself came out to walk the runway. DVF came to play, and as far as we're concerned, she earned herself one fabulous gold medal.
