Designer Spotlight: Ardistia

Here is a designer with some serious credentials. Ardistia New York debuted this Spring and the mastermind behind these structured, yet sweet designs is Ardistia Dwiasri. She earned a B.S. in industrial engineering and a master's in manufacturing engineering from Northeastern University. She also has a fashion design degree from Parsons The New School of Design. After freelancing at the GAP and Ann Taylor, the Indonesian born designer worked as a technical designer for Tommy Hilfiger. Let's just say she's ready for her own label - and after viewing her collection - so am I.
Though her design roots are technical, she manages to create feminine but bold pieces. She adds some sneaky functional elements like zippers and buttons that create adjustable sleeves. Ardistia pieces are streamlined and sassy - I can't wait to see more. Searle picked up the Fall collection and, interestingly, so did the ABC network for the "All My Children" wardrobe.
