Designer Spotlight: Martin Margiela
Undoubtedly, you've heard the name Martin Margiela. The Belgian designer has been a figure in the fashion world since 1985, when he started working for Jean Paul Gaultier. Prior to that, Margiela had worked as a freelance designer for five years after graduating Antwerp's Royal Academy of Fine Arts.
Just a year after leaving Gaultier, the designer showed the first collection under his own label. And the rest is history. Currently, Margiela has a boutique in the West Village in NYC; his shoes are also sold at Barneys. His clothing can also be found at online boutiques such as Yoox and La Garconne.
Side note: Balenciaga's main man, Nicolas Ghesquiere has said on many occasions that he wears Martin Margiela. In the fashion world, that is quite the compliment!

These people are man or woman? Anyway, they are too annorexic.
1Some of the suits are wearable . Some are too much of a show---and the boots seem like an offbeat match to the outfits. They're awkward but overall, interesting yet unwearable

10Gorgeous, definitely wearable avant garde (well, maybe for this site anyway) pieces. I love Margiela and I hope you continue to showcase interesting designers on FabSugar.
11I agree with HuongStar...love it and love seeing something a little different here.
I just realized I'm wearing the twin to the black jacket in the first look today (I guess that makes me a little biased towards Margiela).
