J Brand's Best Sellers This Season? Brightly-Colored Jeans

>> After producing last Summer's runaway favorite — the Houlihan skinny cargo pant — J Brand has an even bigger hit on its hands this year: the colored jean. Over 100,000 pairs of the brand's brightly-hued skinny jeans have been sold since March, according to J Brand founder Jeff Rudes, already outpacing the Houlihan.

Rudes says he was feeling color earlier this year, but after he saw a fuchsia Jil Sander men's suit on display at Jeffrey in early February, he ordered his team to speed up production, Cathy Horyn reports. “Most people don’t get that we’re interpreting fashion through a jean, including our competitors,” Rudes explained.

Rudes is banking on the continued popularity of the super-brights, with a spread of neon jeans done in collaboration with known neon-afficionado Christopher Kane set to be introduced this October, retailing at $250.

Cozy Into These Denim-Inspired Beauty Products

If you could capture the essence of denim, what would it smell like?

If you could capture the essence of denim, what would it smell like? For Esprit, it would include notes like pomegranate, tiaré flower, peony, vanilla bean, white patchouli, and crystal musk, as featured in its new scent, Esprit Jeans Style For Her. For Diesel, which plans to launch Fuel For Life Homme Denim in June, it would be a woody citrus juice featuring raspberry, citrus, lavender, and dry wood.

But the denim-inspired beauty trend is not just limited to fragrance. Brands from MAC to Bobbi Brown to Lipstick Queen all have products with jeans as the overlying theme. And for something truly fun, you can even wear your denim on your nails with Sally Hansen's Salon Effects Nail Polish Strips in Skinny Jeans ($10). As always, click on any of the images above for more details.

Xavier Sheriff and Gemma Ruse, the creative forces behind Studio Xag, are responsible for the bespoke installations, shop retrofits, and window installations that often leave passersby gaping with surprise. Of course, it would be a little too costly to hire these two to create a window installation for one's home (not to mention impractical), but that doesn't mean there's not plenty of inspiration to be found in Studio Xag's work. See how it can translate to your home.

With just a slouchy turtleneck ($79) and a pair of J.Brand Houlihan cargos, Elle Macpherson created an enviable, cool ensemble while hanging with her son in Sydney. It's easy, but still chic — thanks to details like a pair of pretty, leopard-print ballet flats ($88, originally $125) and classic aviators. Shop my picks above for a similar look.

Diesel's New Ads: Just Stupid?

France and England have reignited their rivalry over an unexpected subject: Diesel's "Be Stupid" ads.

France and England have reignited their rivalry over an unexpected subject: Diesel's "Be Stupid" ads. The UK banned the ads because they encouraged "antisocial behavior" and were unsuitable for children. Across the channel in more permissive Cannes, the ads won the top prize at the International Advertising Festival. Now the company has released a new batch: one depicting a woman pleasuring herself with work tools and another encouraging you to sleep with your boss. They're definitely stupid, but that's the point. Diesel says the campaign is a rallying call to challenge conventional wisdom and the ordinary life. Unfortunately, trying to sell jeans with risqué ads and lots of skin seems pretty ordinary to me considering Calvin Klein's been shocking us for years. Have you seen the ads? What do you make of them?

Like the song, Katy Perry's music video for "California Gurls", is super sassy, sugary — a candy lover's dream. Katy rules Candyland; she frolics amongst delicious sweets and saves candy girls by releasing them from their wrappers. Chocolate chip berets, Swarovski crystaled Diesel shorts, and numerous colorful wigs are just the tip of the icing. Snoop Dogg's wardrobe is nothing short of cavity-inducing either.

Is there ever a time Diane doesn't look chic? The actress strolled the streets of Paris with beau Joshua Jackson wearing the perfect French ensemble. A gray checkered blazer and oxfords inject boyish flair, while black shorts, aviator sunnies, and a Hermes crossbody bag lend luxury. Magnifique as usual!

Rosso broke Black Gold off as a separate business division and company veteran Andrea Baldo has been named the label's new general manager. Baldo plans to bring higher quality to Black Gold by using mostly Italian fabrics, tightening distribution (the men's line will be available exclusively at Barneys in the Fall), and creating a new logo, a new shop concept, and more accessories. There will also be dedicated Black Gold advertising campaigns.
