Do You Buy Nail Polish or Do You Use the Polish at the Nail Salon?

I get a mani and pedi here and there and use their nail polish from the salon, otherwise I don't really bother with nail polish.

I've been getting the random pedi here lately because I've been uber busy and I need the occasional pick-me-up. Most of the time I do my own nails at home and have a wonderful array of OPI colors that I cant seem to get enough of.

i get OPI polish for like 2.75 so i'vebecome a bit of an addict. but i usually useone of their OPIs and if i reallylike it i will buy it for touch ups. i too have been to froo froo type salons that charge 50 for a pedi and asian salons that charge 20 and didnt feel there was that much of a difference when i observed them cleaning etc.one of the asian salons near me gives you your own file and buffer. i dont know...jsut so hard to pay 50 for a pedi and i cant do it myself to save my life.

Both....I have gotten an American manicure the last few times...but if I do go with a color I bring OPI Aphrodite's Pink Nightie.

Around here I have found that the nail salons shop clearance racks! The polish is so generic that you're guaranteed to return 1 to 2 days later! B.Y.O.P! Bring your own Polish!!

i think that manicure salons no matter how cheapo they are, should be responsible enough to clean and sterilise their tools in bwt customers, esp the clippers and the thingy they use to cut ur cuticles.. cos it makes no sense we bring our own tools cos how do you go ard lugging a set of manicure tools in your bag, and the staff at the salon are more comfy using their own tools hence they can do a better job with ur nails.

I bring my own files and polish. I never use theirs unless i'm getting a french manicure.

I always bring my own color to the salon so if it chips down the line its easier to fix. unless i'm getting a french manicure or something along that line...

I buy my own and do my nails at home. People must think I do a good job because they all think I go to the salon and have fake nails put on!

gross, never use what they have. I just went to a froo-froo salon and the manicurist busted out some grimy nail file to use on me! I was so mad! and, if you go to one of the cheapo ones that pop up in every shopping center, they are supposed to clean the drains of those spa chairs every time, if they don't you're just sticking your toes into a festering pool of germs!

chato- it seems that there are so many chemicals in nail polish that bringing your own wouldn't be necessary, but I don't really know, and hadn't thought about it til now.

sometimes i go for manicures, and i happen to come across a color i like, i just buy it... cos it is not so easy to buy salon brands such as OPI or Essie.. love my lincoln park after dark & black onyx..though sometimes prices at these salons are more ex. sometimes i bring my own color along and have them paint for me at the salon.

I was reading an article about cleanliness when getting mani/pedis, and in addition to bringing your own tools, it said to bring your own polish as well, a suggestion I hadn't seen before. Has anyone heard this? I wouldn't think it would be necessary, but I'm curious...
