i clean my engagement ring every 2-3 days. it makes a huge difference, sparkle-wise.

This is why I love Tiffany's... I can go in there and get my engagement ring and wedding ring cleaned as much as I want for free! And the best part is browsing while you wait.

I really only clean my diamond ring, but not as often as I should. It probably needs it everyday, but I only do it once or a few times a week. I don't wear a lot of jewelry, so it doesn't need to be cleaned a lot. :)

it depends. silver stuff, my pearls, i clean from time to time. eg. my tiffany k necklace that is currently broken. but somet hings, my dinosaur antique silver earrings, i leave a little dirty. when i found them in sacramento, she had two pairs, one she had cleaned, and i chose the dirtier one . the darkness in the silver gave it the right feel, as the shiny clean one didn't let it be the wonderful vintage piece it was. the story was in the not clean pair to me.

Yes, every week I clean my engagement ring, wedding band, and the diamond earrings I wear almost everyday. I usually only clean my other nice jewelry upon wearing it.

Yes, but it all depends on what exactly it is. I have a huge range of jewelry. I have a lot of sterling, a nice collection of diamonds and gemstones and gold, and then I have all that cheap costume jewelry. Of course we don't really need to clean the cheap plastic/silvertone stuff. But when it comes to sterling, using a polishing cloth is a MUST. It tarnishes over time and boy does it make a difference, especially on rings and things you wear often. You can get them at jewelry stores in the mall even, I worked at one and gave them away for free all the time. With gold and diamonds you really should keep those things clean not only to keep them lasting longer, but to keep them sparkling! Take them to the local stores (we cleaned jewelry for free!) buy a cleaner, or make your own! (1 part ammonia to 4 parts water) I usually heat it up in the microwave, soak for a few, and brush with a soft tooth brush... rinse... et voila! We would use ammonia when we ran out of our "industrial" cleaner, it worked just fine :)
