I have to be honest, I fake. My skin just gets super red and uncomfortable and it hurts :( when I get a regular tan at the beach. But I usally like my pale skin too.

Never. Occasionally Jergens Natural Glow but the results are very subtle!

I used to fake bake back in high school and I worshiped the sun in the summertime. Eventually I just got too busy to do it anymore and thank God for that. I've recently seen pictures of girls from high school that were always super tan (you know the ones I'm talking about every highschool has their token orange girls). Their skin literally looks like leather. They look a minimum of ten years older than they should and now I worship the SPF instead of the sun.

I go tanning, but my reason is that i used to have back acne when i was younger and i have scars, so I go tanning( twice a month) because it blends everything into my skin and letting me finally begin able to wear cute girly clothing. I didnt get to wear a swinsuit til i was 19 because of my back problems, I know its a very bad thing to do to your skin, but i need it for that.

Never. Not only am I very pale, and have quite a few moles with which I have already had a couple of scares with, but also I recently had to research an article concerning the dangers of sunbeds and such, which meant I never wanted to go near a sunbed ever again!!I've kind of gone off self tanning at the moment too, as I seem to be surrounded by orange people, and I've just come to wonder what's so beautiful about looking like an oompa loompa. Done well, tans look gorgeous, and believe me, I really wish I wasn't this pale, but now it just seems all too common for people to go too far. Plus I've seen Final Destination 3 thankyouverymuch :D

another cute way to avoid getting too burned is to get some sort of cute lightweight tunic or coverup to wear while you are in the sun on vacation over your bathing suit. and be sure to wear a high spf sunscreen as well! (i wear at least 45 if not higher spf and apply every two hours as directed). and an umbrella on the beach always helps too.and yeah, you may look like a ghost now, but pale skin is much cuter than a bunch of scars from having melanomas removed (or a bunch of wrinkles when you are older).

I use sunless tanning most of the time. Maybe a couple of times a year I'll lay out by the pool and I live in FL. But I'm very, very white!

Advice: I use to go to tanning beds, and I really wish and I hadn't (im 24) and hope that I haven't done any damage taht will show up later.My advice is to use self tanner and gradually build up a "tan" that way, then just use a higher spf (~30) when u r on spring break so you don't burn. If you seriously use a high enough spf and reapply a few times a day, you won't burn. You could even use one of the gradual self tanners that have an spf in them later in the day to darken yourself up even more when your on vaca. Thats what I always do, makes it look like I got some sun, but then i know I'll be wrinkle free later.

Well I have pretty fair skin and I don't tan very easily and I am debating on whether I should hit the tanning bed before my spring break trip in 2 weeks or just suck it up and embrace my whiteness. any thoughts??? I would apperciate some advice. :?

well, I live at the beach so I lay out there in the summer ( I hardly ever forget the sunscreen). I LOVE sleeping in the sun, it is such a great way to chill. I used to lay out every afternoon in the spring after school in hs. I was pretty dark for an Irish/ German chick. But I NEVER go to a tanning bed! They creep me out, way too much like microwaving yourself! I know TONS of chicks who insist that they have to be tan b/f they go to the beach... dummies

One, you're supposed to be pale in the winter. But then when it gets warm, I can't justify paying to tan while its 75 degrees outside. Laying in the sun for an hour totally destresses me. I'm like a cat

I tanned when I was younger. I tan very easily in natural sunlight and always wear SPF, but for some reason this winter I just felt very yucky, so I went the the tan salon 5 times and got highlights. I have a little glow and I feel better. I don't think 5 times could do too much damage.

I tan, but only my body. And I don't overdo it and am never orange or too brown! My face is very sensitive and I don't want wrinkles so I use a great facial self-tanner that I bought from a tanning salon. And I agree with lawyerjenn, if I had enough money I would use Mystic Tan all the time, but it is too expensive and only lasts a few days.

I have never tanned very much, in high-school I only did it before going to prom. I'm always yelling at people for tanning, yet I'm doing it right now :Rotfl: But that is because I will be going on Spring Break in 2 weeks and don't want to be a ghost out on the beach. But I will quite after I get back...only shriveling myself a little bit :P

I was just going to write how much I liked it and recommend it! but scents affect different people with different chemistry in different ways I guess. I can smell it on myself for about 5 minutes after I get out of the shower but then I can't smell it anymore. And it does a great job from taking me from WHITEY WHITE WHITE to peach :) Mystic tan is too pricey for my taste because it only lasts at most two days. I prefer to spend my 'beauty budget' on great skin care products, pedicures, new highlights.....And yes, I have to tan prior to going somewhere sunny for vacation, otherwise, I'm a very unhappy lobster. Considering that sort of vacation happens at most, once a year, I try not to fret about it.
