depends on what they're modelling and the medium
between these two pictures, i like the sad one better...it looks more artistic, but sad doesn't always fit the situation and sometimes smiley is nice to see!
Totally depends on the type of advertisement. Most of the time I don't even pay attention to the model's expression, i'm only interested in the clothing or accesories being modeled.
If you mean in an editorial either or something else. It's depends on what it's for. For somethings, a model might look nuts if she's smiling. If you want to see lots of smiling models
though, Sonia Rykiel runway shows are perfect for that.
You cant smile wearing a 10,000 dollar gown cause then its like "quit smiling b*tch." But if they look sad or just glossed over then you are like "oh no, why is she sad when she is wearing
that gorgeous dress?"
both of course. but I always think designers should have their models smile on the runway once in a while - I think it would be a refreshing (and original) change...

Cat Deeley looked casual and cute outside the BBC Radio One studios in London. She wore Hudson black skinny jeans and kept warm with a feminine white pom-pom scarf and soft green leather jacket (similar in color to this one by Tory Burch), adding a Pauric Sweeney python bag and tough combat boots to give the look more of an edge.
Absolutely happy! It always looks gorgeous to see a smile on the face
1Happy!

4I like to see happy faces. There is enough sadness in the world. We need something positive to look at.

11Like others already said: it depends what they're modelling for.
