Giorgio Armani Speaks His Mind on Prada, Dolce & Gabbana

>> After his menswear show Tuesday in Milan, Giorgio Armani denounced the fashion industry for being "in the hands of" high finance rather than the fashion houses themselves.

>> After his menswear show Tuesday in Milan, Giorgio Armani denounced the fashion industry for being "in the hands of" high finance rather than the fashion houses themselves. "I’ve wanted to say something about this for awhile, and now’s the time: Fashion is in the in the hands of the banks [and] the stock market," Armani told reporters. "It no longer belongs to the owners, but to those above them. I still haven’t been able to understand how the banks influence our line of work — it’s a mystery."

When he was asked whether his comments were a reference to Prada's recent IPO, Armani replied: "I don’t have debts. Instead, Prada’s problem is that they have to pay back the money that the banks spent to build up the brand." He noted that he preferred independence and had no plans to sell his company. "There are thousands of ways to make money. But for me, I don’t want to wind up having to knock on the door of some Thai managers to explain myself."

Armani also suggested that houses like Prada and Dolce & Gabbana make men look ridiculous, and blamed the press for not being more critical about clownish runway styles that men don't wear. Prada is "ingenious" for her "irony," he said, "and bad taste that becomes chic." But, certain Prada collections are "sometimes ugly," he noted, and stil always get positive coverage in the press. "You know why . . . " His clothes, meanwhile, he said make men look more handsome and elegant.

Both Prada and Dolce & Gabbana declined to comment.

>> On Monday, supermodels Cindy Crawford, Naomi Campbell, Eva Herzigova, and Helena Christensen flew in to join Yasmin Le Bon on the two-day shoot of Duran Duran's upcoming music video for "Girl Panic." Directed by Jonas Ackerlund (who did Lady Gaga's "Paparazzi" video and the recent Kate Moss Dior Addict commercial), the video was filmed in central London "at a posh hotel," with Crawford riding in the back of a Rolls Royce and the supermodels performing as the band.

Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana were also on the set, which doubled as a cover shoot for Harper's Bazaar UK. The magazine's editor Lucy Yeomans Tweeted: "Longest, latest Bazaar shoot in history. Didn't start on cover til 1am & got home at 4, but utterly worth it. One more day to go..." And later: "This has to have been one of the most extraordinary days of my life. A little bit of fashion history made!" The video is expected to be serialized virally online before premiering in whole later this year.

'I was Googling it constantly to see if it was something that, you know, you shouldn’t eat. Somehow, there were more people Googling ‘crack while pregnant’ than ‘caviar’ on most Web sites… But I asked Dasha [Zhukova], seeing as she’s Russian and a great mother, and she said it was OK.'" MTV Movie Awards: Elle Fanning

Elle Fanning looks fresh as a daisy in a Dolce & Gabbana pink floral playsuit.

Elle Fanning looks fresh as a daisy in a Dolce & Gabbana pink floral playsuit. It's an eminently summery look and very much of the moment, especially with the slender belt that's replaced wider girdle belts from seasons past. The floral platforms are a quirky and fun addition. Her makeup is as soft and fresh as her romper, with a sheer fuchsia lip tint and otherwise minimal products. Since Elle's only 13, do you think this look works on someone her age?Vote on all of our MTV Movie Awards polls here!

Last night in Vegas, both music and fashion were at the forefront as celebs took to the red carpet for the annual Billboard Awards.

Last night in Vegas, both music and fashion were at the forefront as celebs took to the red carpet for the annual Billboard Awards. Among the styled arrivals, we spotted Fergie in a bold, Hervé Léger cutout mini, while Nicole Kidman played a mix of casual glamour in an embellished Dolce & Gabbana and looser, side-swept braid. Meanwhile, Rihanna suited up in white-on-white Max Azria menswear, and Selena Gomez showed off a sultrier side in a cutout, black Dolce & Gabbana paired with red Giuseppe Zanotti heels. But it was Taylor Swift that brought the most glamorous of the night's looks, channeling old Hollywood in a sparkling Elie Saab gown, soft waves, and a bright red pout. Like most music award shows, this one brought a range of looks, now it's time to narrow it down to your favorite — which red carpet style is the standout?

Which Model Does Peekaboo Best?

At the Cannes premiere of This Must Be The Place, legendary catwalker Claudia Schiffer and runway stunner Anja Rubik went head-to-head on the red carpet, both clad in sexy black gowns — and both with little left to the imagination. Claudia sported a lace bustier Dolce & Gabbana gown, accessorizing with layered diamond necklaces and a pair of black pumps. Anja's dress may have been full-length and long-sleeved, but it wasn't exactly modest. The Emilio Pucci gown was covered in sequins, and featured an ornate pattern made up of tiny holes. Both models looked gorgeous — but who did black peekaboo best?
