Donna Karan Coatdress: Love It or Hate It?

Ok, I can pull off a shirtdress, but a coatdress? I'm not so sure. Japokie brought this Donna Karan Stretch Crepe Georgette Belted Coatdress, $2,595, to our attention in the Love It or Hate It? group. The model looks like she's swimming in it, no? This is a tough one as I'd have to see it on someone other than a model. I'm thinking if it was worn with a tighter fit, it might look good. What do you all think?

love the concept however this particular number looks too slouchy in my opinion.

I don't know if it's the dress or the model or the way it is on her but it looks so floppy and lifeless - I mean she looks like she is about to die in that thing!

The coatdress looks terrible on this model and the shoes seem an ill-conceived match. It is waaay to large a size for her frame. I think a model with curves could certainly pull off this look. For example, Eva Mendes would look incredible in this design.

This looks like, "I stayed over at some guy's house last night, and since I don't have a change of clothes...I'll just wear this coat that doesn't fit and maybe people won't notice."

I agree with you all. I also can't imagine wearing this without everyone wondering why you weren't removing it. Making the honest mistake in thinking it's a jacket not a dress.

the dress itself is hideous, but it fits so badly on the model that it makes it ten times worse.

This just looks frumpy. As an actual coat it might work but this looks ill-fitted, even if it wasn't on this particular model, the tea length is unflattering with the drape of this fabric and the collar calls too much attention and appears too coat-like for me, as well as the color. Looks like something a streaker would wear to a ball game prior to running butt neeeked across the field.
