FABTV: The Roots Featuring Cody Chestnut, "The Seed"
The Roots alone are a killer creative hip-hop group. Add funkman Cody Chestnut to the mix and you've got a bombastic tune. The two collaborated on this song, and it's an enlightening mix of hip-hop, soul, and rock. I saw Cody Chestnut perform this week and though he didn't cover this song (I guess you would need The Roots to do that), he was still amazing, passionate, truthful — intense, in the best way. These guys together, in some mysterious house, in their fresh hats and smart outerwear, and that rich beat — intense, in the best way. I dare someone to name their little girl "Rock 'n' Roll!"
