Who here has seen the movie Jawbreaker? It came out in 1999 and was the most morbid chick flick I've ever seen. Needless to say, I loved it. This Veruca Salt song was perfectly placed in the film and matched the angst and aggression of the untouchable gorgeous girls in the film. Veruca Salt themselves were rockin' chicks with a vengeance. Maybe Lycra bell bottoms and goth platforms will be in style someday again — they certainly were then. The erratic energy of this video is palpable and the volcano girls are eruptive. Rock on.
Oh. My. Gosh. What a blast from the past! Veruca Salt was my favorite group in middle school. My best friend Liz and I would "rock out" to them all the time.
1Thanks for the memories!
This is so random. Just last night I was reading buzz's list of comfort movies and I thought about Jawbreaker (twisted for comfort, I know). Anyway, my best friends from high school and I were crazy about that movie so I randomly texted them this:
"Ok. Reality Check. Liz is in the trunk of this car. And she is dead. And that is a sad, f-ed up thing. But you're going to walk into that school and strut your sh** down the hallway like every thing is peachy f-ing keen."
Classic! Veruca Salt is also AWESOME. Love them.
2how i know i'm not a kid anymore #241: watching the first 30 seconds of this video, my first thought was, "she's gonna get make-up all over those white sheets and it's gonna be hell getting it out."
wow. is that sad or what?
3Loved Veruca Salt! I used to have Shutterbug on constant replay.

7Wow! I can't express how much I have loved this movie ever since it came out! The soundtrack is also pretty good - this song is on my ipod. I actually own the dvd but watched it on tv a couple of weeks ago b/c they played it on tv...so funny!
8Aww! I saw VS live when they opened for Bush in 1997. I was 14. It was my first real concert ever! Memories! And I have some of Nina Gordon's morerecent stuff ... pretty good.
9I loved American Thighs in middle school! None of my friends were into them, which somehow made them more special for me. Sometimes I get so nostalgic for the '90's.
10Love this song!
