Those of you who are fans of street style blogs will probably dig the DKNY Jeans Spring '09 ads, shot by The Sartorialist, Scott Schuman. This is the photographer's first major campaign, but he's no stranger to snapping well-dressed people on the streets. Chanel Iman, Sean Lennon, and Daisy Lowe are all his model subjects. And just to make it extra authentic, the cross streets where the photos were taken in NYC are listed. This style of ad is a departure for DKNY Jeans, but completely relevant to today. What do you think? Are these ads authentic-looking or not so much?

clothes are cute but the ad... not very creative...
I think it could have been better had the clothing actually been interesting, not just jeans and blazers and t's and such. So very typical. I like DKNY and the sartorialist, but these aren't my cup of tea.
is it weird that i love the site the sartorialist but really dislike the idea of Schumann doing ads?
awful!
I like it becuase I could see myself weang almost all the outfits. I like the different architecture in the background, and the impression that the people are more posing for a candid than doing some weird high fashion thing. Or maybe I'm just tired of all the single woman (generally celebrity) against solid background draped in jewelry. Of course, a lot of people think ads should be high fashion or arty, but I always feel like a lot of them look like they're trying too hard (Miu Miu, any ad with Posh Spice).
i think they're fabulous!
)
I could tell it was an ad, but I think the concept is great. Couldn't tell it was Scott Schuman's work though. The ads could've been executed better to reflect his style of photography.
I love the ad because it really puts the spotlight on the clothes, not the models. Sometimes ads are waaay out there and it is hard to focus on the clothes! The different backgrounds add another element of simplicity yet is still interesting to the ad :]
I like the concept, but I think the ads are poorly executed. The worst is the framing around the picture, it's just so tacky and... amateur? Not a fan...
I saw this in the latest issue of Teen Vogue... I admit at first I thought it was a bit tacky and comes off as a little bit low budget... but it's alright, in general.
I like it! Its looks like real people doing real things for a change instead of some too-thin model in some awkward pose.
I like the clothes (I could see myself wearing it, but it's not anywhere near my budget) and I like the idea, but it would be cooler if they had made it even more candid...
good idea.
They're hot! I cannot afford them but they're absolutely workin"!
i like the photos but the colourful borders around them make it look really cheap and ugly. they shouldn't have put those frames around the photos. it would have been a lot better without them.
I have a collection of DKNY ads at adflickr.com if your interested: DKNY Jeans ads
