We all love a Look for Less, but when the Oscar red carpet has finished, the knockoff manufacturers kick into high gear. Which celebrities' dresses made the cut? Cachet, a New York-based eveningwear company, plans on replicating Heidi Klum's John Galliano, Anne Hathaway's Marchesa, Katherine Heigl's Escada, and Jessica Alba's eggplant-colored Marchesa, to be in stores next September.

Meanwhile, Faviana New York has its eyes set on reproducing Katherine Heigl's Escada for $328 (above), Miley Cyrus' $10,550 Valentino for $248, Amy Adam's Proenza Schouler for $258, and Jessica Alba's $6,000+ Marchesa for $300, to be available in the next 4-5 weeks. Would you ever buy one of these Oscar-inspired dresses?

i think this is dorky
1maybe I don't know
2I think I'd rather attempt to make something inspired by an Oscar dress on my own. Buying the knockoffs just seems like creative theft to me - since all the ones shown are practically the same.
3ABS always knocks off Oscar dresses. They're still pricey (for normal people).
4Who wants to wear a dress that has been so publicized? I don't get it. Plus, it's not even the real thing.
5I don't think so. I do like the one shoulder dress, but designers have interpreted it in different ways. In fact, I just bought one by madison marcus at shopgoldyn.com. It's so cute...very 70s.
6I was just going to say the same thing, fleur. I agree.
7"Creative theft"---good one. I would even leave out the whole "creative" thing.
I also think it seems dorky.
8i'm blown away by the cost of Miley Cyrus's dress. I personally did not like it. It just looked like any dress you can buy anywhere.
9on its own, maybe. but as an oscar dress rip-off, no.
10Meh.
11Eww! Why?
12I agree with wingedkiare, if I really love a dress I see on the red carpet, I would rather design and make something myself. And not exactly the same, cuz that's tacky. 'Inspired by' is one thing, but these are exact replicas. Yuck.
13Knock-offs are a designers worst nightmare!! thats why i dont understand why fabsugar promotes knock off stores like forever21 or oldnavy...you cannot associate high end fashion with cheap knock offs.. its such a shame.. SHAME ON YOU! i just bought a new french connection blouse.. and forever21 already is mass producing it for only 16bucks... ggggrrrrr!!!
14Oscar dress knock-offs are for 16 year old girls to wear to their school formal dances. Anyone older than that shouldn't even consider it.
