My friend Genevieve has big feet (sorry hun). Size 11 to be exact. Don't get me wrong; Genevieve is a beautiful, smart gal, with jet black hair, and stands a little over six feet tall. Her only downfall is her gargantuan feet. Most major department stores don't stock her size and the rare times she finds a shoe in her size, they're ugly and old fashioned. The average shoe size for American women is 8 -- formerly less than size 5; the average height is about 5'4" -- it used to be about 5'. Clothing sizes haven't quite kept up with size increases. http://www.slate.com/id/2065546/

I have to agree, Barefoot Tess is a fantastic shoe store that caters to those of us who wear sizes 11 and up. There is also another great shoe site that all you full-footed women have to visit. It's called Your Feet Make You Unique. This shoe site was created by a woman who says she proudly wears size 11 shoes. You'll find all kinds of designer shoes in larger sizes (11 and up), shoe reviews and articles. I think it's a fantastic site. I have to agree with previous posters; "downfall" and "gargantuan" are pretty harsh ways to describe someone's feet. For someone that tall, they're in proportion to her height. As another tall girl who wears size 11, I have to admit that I've had some pretty bad experiences asking for help finding that size in stores. Sales women have raised eyebrows, asked me if I was sure that is my size and one even laughed out loud. (Weird, I know.) Now I just buy large shoes at Nordstroms or online.

I'm only 5'5", but I wear a size 10 or 11 depending on the style. I usually have a hard time finding shoes so I'll definitely check out this site.One of my friends is 6' and wears a size 12, so I'll definitely pass this on to her. She has a ridiculously horrible time finding shoes.

This is an awesome site for tall girls! Being a 6'1" fashionista I know the agony that comes with trying to find great shoes (and pants), there are not a lot of good resources for tall women. One site that I love is www.thetallstreetjournal.com, it is a brand new site but has the potential to be a great resource.

at 5'10", i'm a size 11 as well (and agree with bhilb about the "downfall" comments--ouch!), and i've given up shopping in regular shoe stores. it's impossible to find anything that's a) cute & not frumpy, and b) decent quality.i've been a big fan of barefoot tess for the last year, actually. the great thing is that they carry up to a size 15, and stock really nice brands. sign up for their email lists, they have CRAZY sales. as in, 40% off of sale prices.

wow, royalbluemoss, i'm glad your so straightforward. i actaully love my shorter feet, which are not stubby at all, and look particularly fabulous in shoes! Then again I think i would look silly 5'3 with long feet, so short ones fit me well :)

um, I think feet under a size 8 on women are gross and stubby personally. They look weird. I have a size 10 and I love my long gorgeous feet.

I have size 11 feet. When I was growing up and would go shopping my sisters (both with size 7 1/2 feet) would have a wealth of shoes to choose from and the shoe salesman would hand me a single pair. I am excited to peruse this website.

I don't have large feet, but they are pretty small, and I can relate to the annoyance of never finding your size. I usually wear a 6, but sometimes need a 5 or 5.5 in certain styles, and I can NEVER find them. And the only size 6 in each style is usually the display model, so I get stuck with the pair that everyone has tried on and stuck their feet in. It drives me nuts.

Wow, as a fellow size 11, I must say I'm a little insulted that you called your friend's feet a "downfall" and "gargantuan." On a tall girl, smaller feet would not work. I'm certainly not the only size 11 that I know, either. Also, like tree-tastic, I don't have a hard time finding shoes, although it is usually more difficult to buy them--i.e., ordering them online rather than walking into a store and buying them.

I have size 11 feet and have never had a hard time finding shoes my size (my huge shoe closet is a testament to this). I think it's great that there is a site for bigger feet, but I don't know that it is necessary. Many of my friends have larger feet and I have never heard them complain about finding shoes or the size of their feet.

i agree, tulipsc! I have size 5 feet and I can NEVER find cute shoes! I hate when they do this, they make big feet stores, and plus size stores.. but not stores for smaller women!

I don't know that many people that wear shoes in size 11 as for women... dont get me wrong, I have nothing against them. I have a lot of girl friends who wear size 5 or 5.5, and I think it's harder for them to find shoes that they want because most of the brands do not carry size 5 - they start from size 6! They should have it for small feet women as well!

That's a good idea. I used to run a couple of shoe stores, and we used to stock only one each of the smallest and biggest sizes (and if the shoes were cute, good luck finding a 5, because I'd already claimed it), so it was very difficult for any size 10 or 11 customers to get what they wanted without special ordering and whatnot. And a lot of the shoes never came in 11 to begin with.

Aw :) I think longer (I hate saying big) feet are beautiful and sexy. I have a special place in my heart for y'all because my mom has size 9 feet and she some how thinks this makes her an alien or something; she always talks about how she wishes she could get that weird toe shortening surgery or whatever. I wish I could take away that self-consciousness away from her, but no matter how hard I try and tell her how many of my friends have size 9 and larger feet, she wont listen! :P ANYWAYS!
